Description
Psychology based personality building for writers. Based on the 16 personality types. The basic beginning of character building. You can use either the color coded Keirsey or the formulaic Myers-Briggs. When you have a result you can exchange them back and forth to your preference. The descriptions are minimal, based on a grid I found on the internet.
Start general and go specific by using the color coded category, sub category, variation
or
start specific and build up by measuring each trait. This will result in a four letter code that you can look up in the colored boxes.
Note:
This is to help you start creating a personality, it does not have all the answers
Myers-Briggs is based on self perception, Keirsey is perception of others. The scores directly correlate.
It is possible to have a character that has non-correlating score, but that indicates they are either extremely not self aware or actively lying about themselves. neither will help you create a personality

I never though of using Myers Briggs with character development, but such a great idea!

Ah, this is the most similar thing to my own works I've seen!

I find myers-briggs a bit hard to understand sometimes but I use the personality tests all the time for my characters.

I'm INTJ, but skepticism is not in my inherent nature. It is, however, a trait I've worked into my personality after I came to understand that it leads you to a better understanding of reality. Perhaps I've changed my personality consciously... I must test this, but not on myself.

I can give you a link to the test I took if you would like. Though I warn you it might not change.I myself am compulsively creative and have ADHD, both things I consider to be major parts of my personality, but neither showed up in my result.

I've taken similar tests that have said I was INTJ, though with INTP as a close second, and I'm not about to dispute it. Especially since I find the descriptions flattering.

Answering these questions for myself is very hard, because I can be both. At times I don't care for anyone but myself, and at other times I do care... It's annoying.
Also, I'm a very.. fickle person.. I have three personal characters I'm working on. But I don't know their true personality through and through. They're MY characters, and yet I don't even know what they're thinking! Man I suck at this.

You need to decide which one fits best on the most basic stand point, but remember this is only the type. People who are the same type can vary greatly depending on their personal experiences and emotions

Awesome! I give MBTI types for my characters [link] , and I've updated that journal to link people to here! (Because I'm sure most people aren't familiar with the MBTI.)

Last time I took the test, I got somewhere between Inventor and Architect. It's scary how accurate these things are. I nearly used this system to write a whole series, too.
