oh my god I just noticed England's changing backgrounds! Can I please have him as a mood ring?!?!?! I really need one!

Sorry. It's a limited item and it's currently out of stock. I guess you could go to the mysterious shop 3 hours on foot from the world summit place, cause I heard they got everything, but I don't recommend it. Heard the shop owner is really clingy, like they'd literally kill you to keep you there.

Oh okay thanks for telling me!~ (ROFL) By the way could you tell me where the world summit place is? Cause I doubt it's in Michigan.

You know they have it in a different place every time and I can't remember where they're holding it now. I got a memo this morning, but it was mostly incomprehensible scribbling, so that's no use... You'd have to check with someone else, sorry.

Oh yes. It's why you could buy him for 4$ during the 70s. they're not mood colours, but understandably, it will be interpreted that way for a little bit...

I'm going to take a guess and say it's the way England's background colour changes with his mood? I don't think I ever noticed that before, and what with our recent conversation about the importance of background colours as well. That paticular shade of blue as well has me interested, but //shrug// What do I know lmao.
And of course, the obligitory: ENGLANNNNNND

Hmmmm...You said that the blue line on the title page represented a new character, right? But that new shade of blue behind England is looking suspiciously similar, so I'm starting to wonder if MAYBE this isn't the England we know - maybe he's been possessed or replaced by someone else. wHO KNOWS //shrug// but that would mean england isn't a lying scoudrel so
EDIT: having compared the colours more closely i'm pretty sure i'm wrong lmao

Starrulet In reply to KaijinKyn [2016-05-16 08:58:20 +0000 UTC]

The blue kind of represented a new character? It's one of those sort-of-sort-of-not things. Anyway, that's all I'm willing to say on the matter.

Ah, well. I can't think what you want to change, but go ahead! I'll have to check back and see.

It's also a smokescreen to cover the fact that I'm busy studying for my end-of-year exams.

Ah, never mind then. If it's not noticeable, then I'm probably making a big deal over nothing.

Please tell me? Otherwise I will just walk around and continue to wonder what it was about.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Starrulet In reply to 95Jezzica [2016-05-15 20:58:27 +0000 UTC]

Ok. It's a minor discontinuity error involving England's background colour. See, usually I wouldn't bother with that kind of thing (I've recently become aware that literally no one notices any details), but because the sudden change is more visible than other edits, I'm worried that people will complain that I didn't do any foreshadowing. So I'm gonna go back and edit it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

95Jezzica In reply to Starrulet [2016-05-15 21:40:14 +0000 UTC]

Why do you need to do foreshadowing though?Β Things are allowed to come as surprises you know.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Starrulet In reply to 95Jezzica [2016-05-16 08:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, some things are better off as surprises, but there are plenty of things that require some foreshadowing to work.

For example: A betrayal. Character A (let's call them Aya) and Character B (let's call them Bob) meet each other and get along great. They save towns and villages and kill monsters and they're a great duo. Then Aya betrays Bob. The audience is surprised, as there was no indication that she was going to do so. A good part of the audience will then feel cheated, as Aya's betrayal does not match up with her characterisation and without any clues or hints, the betrayal feels more like a cheap story gimic that was clumsily thrown in at the last minute coughcoughjustlikeinFrozencoughcough.

Sure, the writers can defend themselves with "She's a spy! Of course you wouldn't notice! It's her job!" But that's not how good fiction works. In hindsight, it has to make sense. It's like noticing indications that a couple is going to break up. You notice that their relationship is struggling, but you shrug it off, because you're absolutely convinced that they would tell you if something were up. When they finally do break up, you're shocked and upset because it's so out of the blue... Until you think about it and realise that actually, it makes perfect sense, as the clues were all there.

So yeah. Really, there are only very few things that are allowed to be a complete surprise in writing. You have to let people know that something is up... They just can't figure out what.

Yay update!
Hmmm. Nope, I can't guess what you have to edit, apart from I'm not sure if Italy was carrying something in the original strip or not. And I really have no time looking back to check or something.
Or is it about the 1P's? Because you were saying a lot that there will be no 1P's in this comic, or was that just a smokescreen? I don't knooow.

Anyways, good update as usual!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Starrulet In reply to chancellorxofxtrash [2016-05-14 15:12:50 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's not Italy. He was already carrying something in the original strip (I was mildly upset that no one noticed... They were probably too thrown off by Italy's presence and the fact that he was kicking That Thing in the facel). Tbh, you probably won't know what I'm on about until I finished editing earlier parts.

Also, I never said or don't remember saying that there were no 1ps. I just said they don't play an active role in the story. They're kind of like background noise... I'm really excited about finally getting to Chapter 16, because that will be so much fun!
