Don't worry. England always experimented on human guinea pigs first, before using any of those "harmless mind experiments" on himself. Of course, apparently it backfired, as he didn't take into account that 1) He isn't a normal human and 2) ...... No. That's it.
Keep in mind, England's explanation for what happened is very simplified and the sciencemagic behind it is a lot more complicated in both methods and results.

(Honestly, I was not sure. I had a lot of very crackpot theories, included "he is possessed by Steve" (like you know, in Ao Oni, the Oni can look like a person they killed), or "he is switching between 1P and 2P and 1P Arthur just really doesn't care about 2Ps and willing to throw them under the bus if that means saving the 1Ps". Yeah, I am aware these are all cracky, but they are just illustrating how clueless I was, though. So I wasn't really "expecting" these "theories" to be true. Do I make sense? Probably not.)
