Description
An attempt at an Undertale style sprite of Haberdashing, because I wanted to try it out.Haberdashing actually has battle data and a battle style in my head, I conceived of it for fun. I don't have attack, defense, or HP set for him, because I don't really understand those mechanics well, as I've only ever attacked Asgore, and hell if I know what his stats mean, but I know Haberdashing would have around Mad Dummy's stats, slightly higher as he would be encountered farther in to Waterfall, as a similar miniboss to Muffet, using purple magic. This again, fits with the sewing theme with the strings on the Purple Magic Bullet Board. His attacks would be:
- Buttons moving across the strings, like Muffet's spiders
- Sewing needles that wave between the three strings so you have to move in time with them to avoid getting hit
- A pair of scissors will come onto the screen and cut one of the three strings, damaging you if you fail to move from the string being cut in time.
The ACT button would come with four options:
*Check:
- Likes to tip his hat.
- Smells like fabric.
- Constantly adjusting his bow-tie.
- How does he smile with his mouth stitched up?
- Waving his arm about for fun. Seems like it's the only thing that's moving.
- Haberdashing winks at you.
- Seems like he's a bit out of place here.
- [GENOCIDE] Looks extremely foppish.
- [GENOCIDE] Thinks his bowtie makes him look handsome. It's not working.
- [GENOCIDE] Missing an arm.
- [GENOCIDE] How does he keep smiling?
- [GENOCIDE] Waving his arm around pointlessly.
- [GENOCIDE] Haberdashing glares at you.
- [GENOCIDE] Doesn't belong here.
*Flirt (Blocked on a Genocide Route):
- Haberdashing tips his hat to you. Damage is reduced this turn. [Damage reduced in half]
- Haberdashing grins, but only a little. Damage is reduced this turn [NOTE: Damage is only reduced by 1/4th, works twice]
- Haberdashing winks, but says nothing. Seems he's done with flattery [No change]
- [GENOCIDE] Haberdashing doesn't want your compliments. [No change]
*Insult:
- You laugh mockingly at Haberdashing's bowtie. He frowns. Attack speed increases this turn. [NOTE: Attacks move twice as fast]
- You snicker at Haberdashing's hat. He huffs in annoyance. Attack speed increases this turn. [NOTE: Attacks move 1.5 times faster]
- You laugh at Haberdashing's bowtie. He frowns, but says nothing. Seems he's no longer bothered by insults. [Attacks return to normal]
*Sweater (The Spare option, only works after exhausting *Flirt):
- You motion towards your sweater in an attempt to communicate with fashion. Seems he doesn't understand. Maybe being more direct could have resulted in a better result. [Nothing, continues until you complete 'Flirt']
- You ask Haberdashing to fix your sweater. He smiles and nods. This should have been your first option. [Green magic buttons appear this turn]
- Your sweater is patched up nicely, and you grin. Once again, communication issues seem to be your main problem here. [Nothing]
- You decide to tell Haberdashing that he did a good job. Why didn't you just say it the first time? Seems he is satisfied. [SPARE is now an option]
- It seems as though Haberdashing feels no need to fight you and ruin his hard work. Maybe you should quit while you're ahead.
He can be defeated in 8 turns, minimum. His dialogue for the required 8/Other:
#1st turn, SPARE attempted: 'I'm really rather sorry, but I believe Captain Undyne would have my head if I didn't kill you now.'
#2nd turn, SPARE attempted: 'Honestly, I'd rather be fixing up that poor sweater of yours, but I don't know if I should trust you.'
#3rd turn and on, SPARE attempted: 'You're not making a case for yourself either way.'
#1st time Flirting: 'Well that's flattering! I didn't know humans were so good with words!'
#2nd time Flirting: 'Again with the kind words? You humans certainly know how to compliment a monster, don't you?'
#3rd time Flirting: 'Well, how can I say no to such a compliment? You keep surprising me!'
#4th time Flirting: 'Now, dear, you're just piling it on a little too thick.'
#5th time Flirting and on: 'Flattery has lost its charm.'
#1st time Insulting: 'Laughing at a gentleman's outfit is very rude, you know.'
#2nd time Insulting: 'Now you're just being petty, dear.'
#3rd time Insulting: 'It's unbecoming to keep this up.'
#4th time Insulting and on: 'Really, human, it's lost all effect.'
#1st time using your Sweater: 'Is flapping your arms a sign in human culture? If so, I'm afraid you've lost me.'
#2nd time using your Sweater: 'Oh, why didn't you say so? I would be happy to fix such a polite human's clothing!'
#3rd time using your Sweater: '.... I'm afraid once again, I'm lost. Are all humans this confusing?'
#4th time using your Sweater: 'Oh, thank you, dear! I'm happy to know you're pleased by my work!'
#5th time using your Sweater and on: 'I would hate to ruin your newly fixed sweater, dear.'
#1st turn, ATTACKing: 'I suppose I'll just have to ruin your poor clothing either way. Such a shame.'
#2nd turn, ATTACKing: 'I so wanted to just have a good day working on my sewing, but you had to ruin that.'
#3rd turn, ATTACKing: 'But I guess there's no getting around it.'
#4th turn, ATTACKing and on; '...'
#1st turn, SPARE attempted [GENOCIDE] : 'I'm fairly certain that Captain Undyne would prefer it if I simply killed you now, I'm dreadfully sorry.'
#2nd turn, SPARE attempted [GENOCIDE] : 'Honestly, I'd rather be fixing up that poor sweater of yours, but I feel like you don't deserve it.'
#3rd turn and on, SPARE attempted [GENOCIDE] : 'You won't make your case any better, dear.'
#1st time Flirting [GENOCIDE] : 'I would consider a compliment from one such as you an insult.'

Very nice sprite-work. It fits in with the motif of Undertale quite well in my book.
