Redraw of this.
Slight backstory change, but still similar. Born in Dragontown, she was around when Spike and the other dragons saved ponies from a wild fire snail that almost burned down an entire district of Fillydelphia. While she wasn't allowed to participate, she was inspired by seeing how such a young dragon was able to do so much, and even though Fillydelphia has a bit of a problem with dragons being treated equally, she decided to start working towards being more than her birthtown. She had trouble with going to school with ponies, but she eventually managed to score a job working for the new head of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns... Twilight Sparkle. Lo and behold, she met Spike again. Unfortunately, they didn't really have a good run of things. Fought a lot, really, but they ended up, well, they have two sons. Spike had to give up full time assisting Twilight when he got involved with politics, so she's her full time assistant now, but they still work together and take care of their kids.
I created/adopted Topaz as an OC to ship with Spike, and I know that's usually frowned upon, I just can't bring myself to put Spike in a position where he's going to outlive his mate, and... I don't really like any of the pony pairings anyway, and all the dragons seen on the show or in the comics are much older than Spike and that would just be kind of icky for me. So.... Topaz. I still love her as her own character, I just don't ever post anything about her because I don't want to seem like... I should really draw her more.
