Description "Hey there! My name's Alex! I'm 11 years old... and I'm curious and a hard worker "

This is a re-make of this: [link]
I wasn't really satisfied with how it came out when I did everything digitally, so this time I'm drawing it on paper first, and then using is as a base for digital art.

I made this one a little more anime and less cartoony, smaller eyes, closer to real proportions, because I wanted to put more time and effort into this, just experimenting around, and her face didn't turn out too bad

This is for a long overdue meme for one of my best friends on DA... I'll try to get it done semi-soon buddy, you know who you are... I'll post my failed digital versions in my scraps

Great job on the clothing. I love how they look like they really are "hanging" off the body, which is exactly what they should do. The attention to the details of the clothing, the wobbly lines on the shirt, the suspenders are loose at the top like ill-fitted overalls that are too tall for the kid, making the straps stand taller than they should. The stitching is also great.

I really like the hair and eyes as well. I find that the hair looks loose and flowing, and the eyes are nicely shaped and clear. Your jaw looks like it's just a half circle/loop with little definition, but that can easily be left to style of the picture.

I'd have to say your biggest weaknesses that I can see here is the hands. The hand waving looks like a bunch of lumps instead of well formed finger/digits. The thumb seems out of place, maybe it's just too high up? Can't put my finger on it though. And the wrist could use more definition (very hard, I know). Maybe if the forearm was a tad wider, and the wrist would be kept at the current thickness...? And the hand you can't see seems to "disappear" at the pocket line. You seemed to have neglected the pocket wrinkles for the hand being inside the pocket, but that also is easier said than done.

I have to say, great job. Love the bandages on the knee as it gives personality to the picture, and the face style is really warm and welcoming. The scuff on the other knee is also great in showing that rough and tumble, tomboy personality of the character.

Overall, I'd have to say wonderful. Work on your hands and the human body details, but proportions and clothing details/styles you've got a good grasp on. I'd love to see more work from you.

(PS: You seem better at traditional art than digital, as I like this picture a lot better and has more details in it than the digital version. Though, you are worlds better with your digital art than I am. I can't even draw a circle!)

Wow, this is an awesome critique! thank you so much!
Yah, arms and hands are kind of my weak spot, I tried to use referance, but got frustrated and kind of gave up on it... maybe I'll try re-doing the hand

Do what I would call a "Hand Study". Work on drawing just hands, not arms or wrists (unless you wish), but just hands. Steel a friend if you can and have them pose their hands (always best to work from real life and not pictures), and if that doesn't work, look and try drawing your own hands (or take photos of your hands to draw, or get photos of other people's hands). I had to do that myself a few times. Found out, if I'm just drawing a hand, then I can draw it well. Once I have to attach that hand, it gets harder. But it was easier after my hand study to get it at least looking nicer... Still not perfect.

And I figured that it would be more helpful to say goods and bads than just "great job".

And no matter what, don't get discuraged. Even if parts of your art isn't "perfect", you've got something in your art a lot of "professional" artists lack, your art has personality in it. When I look at it, I can see a "life" inside your art. It's a rare gift I find.

Have fun with it. (I'm sure you noticed the Foot and Shoe study I did myself. It can come in handy, and a lot of people seemed to have faved it as a reference for themselves. That is why you faved it too, right...? Or are those sneakers just that awesome? )

I have a hard time coming up with a style or design for them most times. These ones here I went and did an internet search for just to practice some in existence styles. When you need help, never forget that you can turn to the internet for references.

I like the more realistic proportions and slightly messier style on this version - and the scabby knees are a nice touch!

I think the other was more immediately attractive because of its colors.
But after looking at both for a long time, this version ultimately wins.
I can see so much improvement! ESP. the hair buddy. I seriously wanna reach out and grab it.
Keep up the good work!
