Description YOU ASKED FOR IT

Quite a few DA friends commented I should put my work on stained glass. Problem is it would be insanely expensive.

I'm very happy with this system, and I and customers have so many options viewing, or hanging, framing, thin light box, in window, etc.

You're right. BTW you realize the original was painted I'm sure.
What you see is a print. So if 10 people want to buy it as seen I can provide it.
I won't be making anymore like this unless requested by a customer.
One of my canvas prints of this 18x24 is hanging in my brothers house. One of his friends, now mine, freaked with this one. She is a wonderful artist. Her drawings are some of the best I've seen. She says I'm an artist and she merely copies!!! I told her she's the real artist and my art is nuts ahahaha

i don't know her or her work so i can't say an opinion about her.
what i can say,to you,is that you should not think about your work like that.your art is great and if you don't support it yourself, then how can you expect others to give it the attention it deserves?

I do view my art as special even on DA being exposed to so much talent. My work is unique, I know that. I also know I started spin off of my style. Work I never saw on DA 7 years ago when I first came to DA. I was on another site, GFX I think it's called. There's many more pro's there and it's probably higher end then DA. Haven't been there for a while though

this is a really awesome idea!
What is the material that you used that lets the light shine through so well?

Stepbeyond In reply to Keegasaurus [2009-10-27 04:21:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you

I didn't do it. Done by my printer using my file. It's high quality graphics film printed with special ink for that material. It's then put on plexi-glass or glass. I'm going to put select pieces on select windows. It should look awesome. I'll post them when I do it.

Hey Rachieeeeee. Been a long time. I haven't been getting here that much lately. Same old tape recording, just too much of everything.

We should talk. Remember we were going to do that about a year ago haha.

I'm not sure about stain glass....But this would look awesome as a laptop skin! Not sure what the cost is for that...

jfkpaint [2008-12-13 01:10:39 +0000 UTC]

Cool painting. I have done a number of paintings on acrylic panels and also can get the light effect when I back light it or hang it in a window. What I haven't figured out yet is how to frame one in a shadowbox and light it properly. Have you solved that dilemma?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to jfkpaint [2008-12-20 06:05:05 +0000 UTC]

they do sell light boxes, but they are not cheap.

I don't have the time or experience to build one myself, but there are those that do.

I didn't paint over this acylic. The original is oil on some kind of board. The one lit is a print grafics film on plexiglass. It's not the cheapest print to make, but it's worth every penny for me.

woah that gives a lot more life to the work! (not that it needs it ), it's an awesome idea i've seen it done with turkish rugs.

Stepbeyond In reply to Mikha [2008-12-06 07:30:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Mikha. Oh it does, the life I mean. I put it in the window--at night it's so cool. I'm determined to get my work out there for people to really enjoy them--I sound like a broken record, but the net sucks for showing art. My work you have to live with--then--only then can you understand my frustration

thanks for all the support

hey, i'm an art historian i know reproductions NEVER do the works of art justice

not the reproduction---the net! lol Viewing them. The pits.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mikha In reply to Stepbeyond [2008-12-08 15:48:54 +0000 UTC]

yes, but when you look at them on the net, they are still reproductions, like in books
