Description This was taken from the original "Mr Lonely Face" posted about 7-9 months ago. That version was an 18"x24" paper. It couldn't hold up to all the markers--pensils---pens.
I had it printed on a 30x40 canvas. I was only going to touch it up---yeah---right!!!

I put about 30+ hrs in this in addition to the original which took a good 80+hrs. To much time--I know---but I had to do it.

This version has color enhancements---other small changes---and of course size. As the original---this is one of most illusion rich pieces to enter my gallery---and the images abound as usual. I don't know if you can even see the illusions in this from being so close to it and size on the net.

Even so---it is a treasure chest of cool things (if you're into this type of art). Once again---I realize how long it would take to see everything----from 3 months on up to a year with the illusions and upside down view.

It's far from perfect---but I couldn't do anymore on this. Enjoy---it's alot of fun

There is a lot of expression and emotion in this one, I can almost feel the various states of mind of someone, the various aspects of a soul. It's very powerful indeed! Thanks for mentionning it in your comment!
There is a lot of contrast, contradictions in this one!

Yes, he's one you have to have in a room with you. Look at him every so often. He also has many illussions with lower light. Although it looks simpier to see, in actuality Mr Lonely can be as hard to see as the more complex looking ones.
Thanks for your take on it.

I'm sure there are tons of things that can be seen in the original painting and missed on the reproductions or shots you've posted here.... Traditional painting never looks as good as in real life!

I know all to well unfortunatly. Some are really hit hard. Big time. Especially ones that need alot of time to view. There's just far too much to see anything after 5 minutes. They keep revealing themselves more and more everytime you look at it. One guy who own Smokin Mad Man Sax says it's incredable. He said after 6 months the piece just keeps coming at him again and again and again. His words "it can drive you nuts" But he said that in a good way and I know what he means.

On here--the net. Most of mine get utterly killed. They really do. The good news. I'll be getting my art out there where people see it---that where it comes alive
You can love it or hate it, but it does command your attention. I feel some of your works the same. I'd like to show it around. My printers, art friends, etc here in my area. No--not the web

I'd blow one up and have it made beautiful. Maybe as big as 30 x 34" or 18x 24.

It's your work. I would point anyone interested to you of course.

I saw the other version first, I swear it seems like a different work, but part of a series of it. most work is obvious when it's a piece that's been flipped upside down, but it's crazy that it differs so much! just by flipping it!! beautiful work!

you are a 1 person fan club---now I'm turning red over here.

Thank you so much---my level of perfectionism is probaly going to get worse---lol Only kidding---it's bad enough already but under controll

I like this upside-down view because the thought of tears running upward is very intriguing. It give this piece and extra emotional edge. It would be a fun concept to elaborate on. The very "kissable" lips below the left eye are also interesting. To me, it's a bit ironic with such lovely lips trying to kiss away tears flowing in the opposite direction. One could say there's some hidden meaning beneath all these hidden pictures... Good work, as usual.

thank you Kitty.
Oh yes---there's a definite meaning to me with this one---and it is emotionally charged. Not all of them do---I usually don't create to have a message or all these deep seated meanings. However----they give themselves meaning and some kind of something lol What a sentence.

Moving along---they develope meaning and character as they progress---know what I mean? I never start out with a meaning or message to get into a piece. They sort of create themselves and name themselves. I know that sounds sort of hokey---but maybe you know exactly what I mean---many artists create without a meaning---but many end up having more substance then was planned.

Tibby-Kitty In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-09-25 22:45:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that does happen. Being that I primarily work with cartoons, there usually aren't any hidden meanings, but occassionally there are slivers of truth in my characters and the way they're depicted. Like you said, they give themselves their own meaning, and the meaning changes from person to person. I may have something in mind for this piece of yours, but it may never exactly coincide with what you have in mind. Art is an interesting way to channel feelings, isn't it?

yes---it really is. I thought the drawing "Evil" was on the evil side---must saw him as sad. Then I saw it too. lol. It is individual

Tibby-Kitty In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-09-30 17:43:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is individual. Keep at it. We need more individuality with all this anime and Lion King rip-offs these days.

Stepbeyond In reply to Tibby-Kitty [2006-10-02 05:24:42 +0000 UTC]

thank you Kitty---yes---we most keep it individual---I'd never imitate someones style----if you don't have your own---develope it and your own creativeness. You'll never find it copying everone elses ideas---kills your own creativeness and what you have inside---makes no sense to me.

lol you pick up on what most never comment on---cool---you seem to look at the not so obvious details. You probably do it with all art---not just mine. I think that's great

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Webb97 In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-08-21 17:32:53 +0000 UTC]

That's kind of cool. Specialy because I don't read the other comments. I think it would distort my take on the piece.

Stepbeyond In reply to Webb97 [2006-08-30 04:42:57 +0000 UTC]

sure it would. You always give good feedback---you have good eyes---and nothing beats that for art---in my opinion anyway.

And this one...it's just so amazing. I really do wish I could see this hanging in a gallery; you're right that it is very hard to see in totality on screen. But just looking at the middle-sized image isn't good enough. From what I can see, however, it's a brilliant work that's so full of thoughts, emotions, history, things forgotten and remembered....and all the things that course through our entire lives. That's what I see, and what I feel. I love both works.

what words---thank you. There is so much in this----the first time i posted the original i didn't know anyone---and it didn't look like this---even so---it was more or less overlooked---I'm glad I redid the piece and posted.

Poor Mr Lonely Face has gotten the recognition this time--- lol I mean that---not me---the piece. Because he's the one that had all the things you see that weren't seen before---that sound alittle nuts lol i do look at Mr L as a piece of art that took on a life of it's own---like he used me to create him---and now I can get lost---boy---that does sound alittle nuts lol Can't explain it

Wonderfully bizarre and offbeat. I love the detailing and design. Beautiful colors and fine structure. The face is creatively rendered. For some reason, it reminds me a little of those beautiful tribal masks from Africa.

why thank you mr t----and again i hear tribal lol not only for Mr Lonely Face---but so many people have said that ---Tribal---North American---among other names that all fit the same catogory of tribal or something along those lines. I've heard this quite a few times over a couple years for quite a few of my pieces---i find it interesting. thx again

LeFreaks In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-08-13 17:19:39 +0000 UTC]

some of them. remember, your works are brilliantly detailed, and i always check my messages at around 9 in the morning after i wake up, so i'm not as bright in the morning as some, and i tend to miss these things.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to LeFreaks [2006-08-16 05:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. What do you mean when you say bright---you mean the sunlight?

By the way---I'm almost finished with one I love---I mean---it's just so much fun---to me anyway---but I know you will like this one.

BUT!! If you're not crazy about it please say so---coz I really do look for honest feedback---especially from people like you---you really see what I do---and let's face it--all art has its followers---nomatter what kind of art you produce---so it's so cool when some one like you views my work and really gets moved by it----has as much fun with it as me (not counting the curses I throw at some of them lol) that's because you have the eyes for this type of art.
Thanks--I really appreciate all the work you viewed from me and your constant support
