Description
18"X24" Oil on paper, a 4 view work. This was a hard and time consuming piece because of the changes. It morped about 4 times. Light to dark back to light again then finally achieved the balance I wanted.
This shot was photographed. Not the greatest. I will be having it scanned in to a large format scanner soon.
Hope you like it. Thank God it's finished.

When you look you look. Thank you for the feedback on In The Depts. To answe your question. All my pieces have meaning for me. Some more then others. Each one becomes a part of me in the true sense of the word. That's how it works for anyone that owns them also. They suck you in and go on and and on.
In the depts has 4 sides, different views. Upside down there's a abstract baby with head piece and all . All together there's probably 200 different images, characters in this one. This is among my favs. Other pieces that I feel are some of my best works and have hundreds of images, illussions, are Discovery, Passion Fish, Hell Express (pen%Ink) Guardians of the Night, Smokin Mad Man Sax. Actually, there4's too many lol.
Paintings average 100 to 160 hrs. Pen and Inks 30 to 60 hrs. You have to spend the time. You just can't do these fast nomatter how good an artist you are. It's a process that must be followed or they wouldn't look like they do. You have to see it to paint it--right ?
None of them were planned. I was a tile man for 20 years. That may explain a little why mty work looks they way it does. Very hard art school lol
I closed the business about 2 years ago to persue art, music (I play and teach) and other things.
Yes, I am a vivacious passionate character lol Not the norm for my age. Probably the same like many creative types in my age bracket

what I like most about your works are I discover something different each time I look at them. It's like watching your favorite movie over and over to the point that you no longer pay attention to the characters or dialogue because you have that memorized (it doesn't stimulate you anymore that it is there, like wearing a piece of jewelry all the time, a wedding ring or a class ring for example, you lose the sensation that it is there, your mind isn't constantly telling you "something is surrounding your finger do you feel that something is surrounding your finger hey look down at it do you feel that" like it would tell you if say a spider crawled up your arms sending you RED FLAGS something is out of the ordinary) so because the main features are commonplace in the movie you start looking at the background, the lighting, the atmosphere, the little things you overlooked before, and you start realizing something NEW. oh is there a WORD LIMIT on replies, I hope this all goes through, I'm not typing it again.

Thank you so much. I can't tell you what that kind of feedback does for me. In the depths truly doesn't end, and there's the 4 in one paintings with it. I made a copy on a special film and you fall into it. I have it on a easle now where I relax. I haven't had it in front of me like that. I saw so many new images. That fish freaks even me. Although most of my works are timeless journeys, In the depths has to be among the top 10% with that. It's very frustrating for me because (even you) are probable seeing no more then 10--to 30% of what this really is. Between not enough time for the viewer and the net-my pieces are just---hmmmmmmmm nothing really.
I'll talk to you more about this subject.
btw, no need to apologize about the length of your reply haha I've been known to send short books for replies.
Thanks again, will talk soon

That was precious
It's so many things including the head over the head---the very main character is a fish---and a very comtemplative face--trance---whatever you make of it. Then about 150 more characters etc with the 4 turns

hehehe, that's what i like about your paintings, there's always a lot more to see if you just change the angle

Stepbeyond In reply to Mikha [2007-12-05 07:19:40 +0000 UTC]
Even the same angle---but it takes exposure and looking. I don't expect busy people here to give that kind of time to one piece here on da. I must work out a really cool get it in your hands kinda thing. It's the only way.

well, when it comes to the art, like any business, I talk direct to people. I can't do true networking with notes back and forth. Like you said--certain things I will not do in the virtual word. I love when Regis and (what's her name) say they don't even check there emails. Their proud of it too. As they say---they are free. I feel very much the same way. Comps have much to offer, but they are creating problems also---alot of them. You guys are growing up with this---be careful. If your job isn't being on comp---do what's absolutely necessary on here. Otherwise you can easily throw away incredable amounts of basically wasted time. That's a fact, not just my opinion.

i know
as i have said before, a lot of what i do requires the comp (just imagine writing the thesis by hand <_< it can be done, surely, but it would take a lot longer, and seriously, poor trees). But I know there are people who do perfectly well without the comp, my mum, for example, won't get near one unless absolutely necessary (meaning my sister dying to talk to her through the microphone), otherwise... she is comp-free

Stepbeyond In reply to Mikha [2007-12-10 04:50:31 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, wouldn't take to much for me to be relatively comp free, but I'm opening my private site--so I'll check on that. Almost none of my art business dealings are done on comp--that would be a super and unnecessary time waster. Important emails almost none, and a few business emails, solicitations, ads, etc.
Although I know many many people, none of them email. They need to talk--they call. I'd like to keep it that way. I was off the comp for 3 days--then what happens should one of them really need to get to me? lol Comp is overused, that's my opinion. I don't want to add one more thing to my life I have check--or get to every day like emails.

thank you very much. I feel the same way about this one. It is truly wonderful to look at that live. I like just sitting back and letting myself fall into this one. My goodness---it was rough because it went from lighter---to darker---then back to what I felt was a good balance---at least 150 hrs on this.
