#244 Entei

6'11" - 436.5 lbs.

Entei is still one of my favorites of my childhood. He looks so proud and powerful, a mighty keeper of the flames. I must say I always saw him as a part of the legendary hounds, but I had to realize during this project: this design is based on a lion. So not very much of a dog, and I really didn't want to stretch him to a wolf like creature. Instead I better wanted to keep him based on the king of the animals, which actually would fit even better to the picture of Entei I always had.

I thought about his wings and the cloak/tail for quite a while. In Pokemon Colosseum you can see these wing things even move like wings, but the material seemed to be the same as the sabre teeth. In spite of that I decided to make them real wings of feathers. A lion with wings sounds like Greek Mythology, I think. And that coat thing? Well, that moved like waves on his back. What could that be? At first I thought of something like smoke, a bit of a magical, transparent protection. But then I noticed that this could easily be the tail of the lion, which otherwise would be missing.
