Yes, Betty is TECHNICALLY an illegal capture. See, what happened was that I thought that Rt. 3 started outside of Viridian Forest when ACTUALLY it starts on the other side of Pewter on the way to Mt. Moon. I didn't realized this until I looked back in my notes while I was writing the story. So she was an accidental capture. I'm sorry guys!
However, I will defend catching a Weedle. Yes, I already caught Lancelot. But! According to the Pokedex, I did not have a Weedle. The Pokedex registers each evolution as a different Pokemon, so she technically could be caught. To complete the Pokedex, you see. Had she lived long enough to evolve into a Kakuna, I would've had to retire either Betty or Lancelot to the PC until one of them died. But that didn't happen. (And no, I didn't purposefully kill Betty! It was an accident while training.)
And no, she's not the same Weedle who attacked Anna. She attached herself to Marina when they got out of the forest.
On another note, Poison Stings only have poison when the tips of the stingers are purple. If they are not, then they're just stabbing at an opponent, no poison. Just for future reference, should we need it.

Evolutionary clause. If Lancelot was a Weedle when I caught him, I would never have caught Betty. And if Betty had lived long enough to evolve, I would have boxed her and only used Lancelot.

But I'm so glad I made it out with anyone dying before getting out of the forest. That was one of my biggest fears at the start, but it turned out okay.

yeah some of those routes are easy to mistake for new ones. there is always one or two of them in every region that seem like they should be a new route but they arent. also first death!! qnq poor little weedle!!

To be fair it's really easy to make that mistake. I've done the same thing with this route, in Ruby with route 104, and in Platinum with route 210. The pokemon games aren't exactly made with making Nuzlockers lives easy, although I guess that's kind've the point. :V
