Description Enough people asked me about my process that I decided to try and put something together.

As you can see, nothing too amazing going on - but perhaps it may be of interest.

I plan to add the ship into an illustration when time permits, but it's not there yet

Hmmm, actually I'm wondering, do you use a ruler with your Wacom, because I'm not aware of anything on Photoshop that allows you to draw a straight line - unless your using Corel. It would be great to see a full size tutorial in the future.

I use the "click, hold shift key, 2nd click" a lot. It gives a straight line with whatever brush you are using

Oh nice, I should give it a try. You should try to come up with a larger tutorial one day, that would very helpful .

This looks like something from the Alien universe. Like the Nostromo, but without the refinery thing.

steve-burg In reply to GeneralZadrek [2010-08-26 13:30:11 +0000 UTC]

In my mind, it's smaller than the Nostromo - but this is unfinished.

It needs better indication of the scale. Maybe it is 60 meters long (?)

In any case, many people on DA who likes to see this kind of process. It's not easy to see, working methods, the great artist. I think we can learn much from them. Particularly, I love this kind of images. Thanks .... you!

hmm, you went pretty much flat from the side. Start turning it ; )

steve-burg In reply to diamondage [2010-08-26 06:54:41 +0000 UTC]

I probably will in an illustration - this was more "overdone design sketch" - with texture and all

But now I have a better idea of the form, so I should be able to do a change of angle on it.

That's awesome man! I dunno why I think drawing is pretty hard and most artists are good at it

steve-burg In reply to QAuZ [2010-08-26 05:44:45 +0000 UTC]

I think drawing probably is hard, but with practice it doesn't seem that way after a while. But I think everyone can develop or improve their ability to draw - kind of like anyone can learn to play golf (I think)

QAuZ In reply to steve-burg [2010-08-26 05:53:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, the thing is that I dunno how drawers like you draw lines correctly lol and in a smooth way and stuff (sorry for my bad Eng)

steve-burg In reply to QAuZ [2010-08-26 06:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Photoshop definitely helps with the straight lines. Also, I work on many layers, so if I make a mistake I can erase just that part of it and make repairs as I go along

QAuZ In reply to steve-burg [2010-08-26 06:59:29 +0000 UTC]

That helps thanks! but I still need tablet XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

steve-burg In reply to QAuZ [2010-08-26 13:44:57 +0000 UTC]

You definitely should get a tablet. But sometimes, for some things (like the straight edges) - I paint with the mouse. Yes, it's true !

QAuZ In reply to steve-burg [2010-08-26 14:02:48 +0000 UTC]

I think because you got use to draw straight lines!
