Description
So I have this preliminary drawing of a gardevoir that I did by hand and I want to make it into something like those digital masterpieces that I frequently come across on this site. As you can see, it's been scanned and made into a jpeg file and from there I was planning to trace over it with the pen tool, then color and shade it all on photoshop. That was how I made my fake pokemon before this but I can't help but think that there's an easier way to tackle this. Can someone please tell me if there's like a video or some kind of guide that can help me with this or just give me some advice? I am, after all, fairly new to this hobby.Status: Complete
I'll just keep this baby around just as a reminder of how this art project started. It makes it feel that much nicer and rewarding.

You can use Paint Tool Sai. It's easier than Photoshop for working with lineart and coloring if you use a Mouse.
Personally I prefer to use Photoshop at the ending drawing to make some little effects or to write text over it, but nothing else.
Also Sai is a good tool for people who use Tablets, but I have no idea how they do that.
Algo I highly suggest you not working with too big-ass sketches, because that could be a little more frustrating due the dimensions of the piece and, also, because a too big image consumes a lot of memory.
If you're interested in drawing via Sai and want to try if it's better or harder for you, I can send you a video of myself inking and coloring a drawing from sketch to final piece, but it's in Spanish because I'm from Chile, but maybe you can "mimic" what I'm doing, the configuration of the tools and everything. It last 2 hours but you can skip some parts that are not neccessary to be seen.
I hope to hear your answer!

Oh wow, it's you. When I asked for advice I didn't imagine I would have someone as talented as you to come along to my little underprivileged project. Love your work btw. Enough of me being starstruck though.
So you don't use a tablet when you draw with SAI? If that's the case then that makes me feel reassured about trying to use SAI without a tablet. Yes I would love to see a video of your process, it would be most informative to me. Thank you for your input.

Don't worry! Don't say that, I'm just a normal person that... like 1/3 of the internet hate, but that's all! I'm not especial or something!

There is the video Process. As I told you it's in Spanish, but you can follow what I'm doing in the video by just watching, because everything is just a process with mouse!

In my Youtube Account I have other examples how to work with Lines and flat color. I promise to upload more content, but not right now!
I hope this can help you by any chance! If you're confused or something, just ask me... oh! And some of the tools there are custom tools. You can use Sai to clone some of the main tools and modify them as your wish, so you can also check or browse tutorials in Sai.
See you! I hope it works for you and that you improve a lot making more drawings and colorings!
