She's been essentially possessed by an evil dragon. And because of the deeds she's forced to commit while under it's control, she looses her angelic status, her powers, and even her wings.

The dragon in question is Nichol Bolas, who's about as bad as they get. I would actually love to do a graphic novel on that character. Focusing on, like you suggest, her redemption story.

i really love the whole alara look. especially the style of bant and the ways it was depicted (made ravnica quite nice too). this however is truly gorgeous, couldn't get my eyes off it when i first saw it.
Armor, face, wings, pose, light everything just great. I never even realizes the scaliness of the front or the broken sigils on the ground. A magic card is realy way to small for such an artwork.
One of my all time faves.

Whenever a new MTG set comes out a few friends and I get together to discuss the art and design of the set. For Alara Reborn 4 out of 8 of us all agreed that this was the nicest piece in the set. I even have this as my most used playmat, it's so awesome. Love your stuff, hope you keep doing work for wizards.
