I've not played magic the gathering for a long time now, but i do really like this art work. I have seen it about on their products and i do admit i was impressed and took closer looks! It is very well done!

I was looking through random Magic cards online, just because I haven't played in a while and thought it would be nice to see what's out there. Lo and behold, I found Slave of Bolas and just had to have a looksy for a bigger version of the artwork. I was glad to find your stuff here on DA :3
I love her outfit, it is quite splendid. All the flowy, flappy, foldy cloth on the ground is super-pretty, and I like all the layers and ridges and whatnot in her armour.
Oh, and the wings. Drawing wings always does my head in, so you can have extra kudos for those!
Really, it's great - I like looking at it and finding little things I hadn't noticed before. I'm not sure I can come up with any higher praise than that :3

my friend hates the card because he thinks the pic is of akroma (angle of wrath). and so i was like "HA! akromas bolas's slave!!!" XP because he loves akroma and keeps kicking my @$$ with her...but now i think it looks like a battlegrace angel and akroma mixed together....can you settle our dispute...which is it, or is it just a random (AWESOME!) angel?

It's just a random angel. Though I hope that she ends up getting some story time. I've even bugged WotC about letting me do a graphic novel based on that character.

koolio, ill tell emm its not akroma lol...^^ and i think she should, i would read it and i never read anything i dont have to. btw i cant wait to see more of your art, my friend just bought 15 booster packs and i was like, "HOLY CRAP! A CELESTIAL MANTLE!!!!!!!.....oh btw i know the guy who made the pic for this card, hes on deviant art!" my friend was like, "COOL!" and i was like..."yup...." oh and my friend just told me to tell you he loves the pic, its awesome!

Its you! I've been admiring this piece since I first saw the card. Its beautiful, its brilliant! The tears streaming down the angel's face as her sigils shatter, and her mind is taken from her. Its all so amazing. I doubt anyone else could have done so well on it. Thank you

Absolutely stunning work. It is so extremely detailed that it fills both my screens. When the art was first spoiled, I thought: please don't waste this on a terrible card. Luckily, Slave of Bolas is my favorite card of Alara block, as a perfect combination of mechanics and art.

Oh, well, wow. This is mind-blowingly awesome. Watched the time lapse, and yet it simply doesn't give me any real hints of how you created such a stunning image. Sure, I saw the steps, but for some reason my mind simply cannot connect them together. Not yet at least. One day...yes, one day...

I have always been curious if it is Bolas' scales that are forming a ring around her or if it is just a room with oddly textured walls.
AMAZING either way, this is the best piece of the new set i my opinion.
