This picture pretty much embodies everything Superman should be, a symbol of hope. Why can't WB get that through their thick heads???

When Superman is still symbol of Manifest Destiny and U. S. exepcionalism, that screw all the other democracies excluding of course of the U. S. is very hard to say that Superman is the "last hope".
