Description
Another banner art for an online game. This one is of a wizard's tower. I wanted to try something different and keep it low but separated from everyone else by water and lava as opposed to the towers we normally see high in the mountains.Created in CS4

Ominous Tower of Ominousness...Maybe a little cliche, but no less epic.

I love how it shows an entire spectrum of different elements in the land. Linked and yet partly separate in storytelling.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I didn't think of it that way but yet it makes complete sense. Funny how everyone's perception and perspective can be unique.

Looks like a pretty snazzy place to live! Bet they don't get many Jehovah's Witnesses there. I wonder if having lava on the property raises insurance rates...

Smooth transition but keeps kind of a gritty texture overall - top notch, I'd really like to get this good with landscapes one day.

Hey thanks Kyle I appreciate that. Have you tried experimenting with texture overlays? Check out cgtextures.com I love taking something like a grundge metal texture and then using an overlay layer anywhere with a 4-20% opacity. Something like that will really set off your freehand work.

Hey there, yep, I have usually gone to [link] for textures but I will check out cgtextures - thanks for the tip!

It reminds me of the Bright Wizards' Tower in Altdorf in Warhammer Online, except this one doesn't seem to be regularly exploding and destroying the buildings around it.
I love the detail on the lava showing through the cracks in the earth. You can practically feel the heat rising from the stone .

Thank you I appreciate the nice compliment. I never played Warhammer Online but just now watched some youtube videos on the gameplay. Looks fun and the fact that the demo doesn't have an expiration is nice.

It's not so good. It never took off. It tried to hard to kill WoW, instead of being its own game. It's too bad, because the Warhammer IP is pretty creative.

Yeah that's too bad. I hate it when developers try and do that. Make your own game....why be like someone else? Sure WoW has been extremely successful but people are always looking for a new experience. WoW is crazy....what they have over 9 million subscribers right? at what? 15/month? Man that's like winning the lottery every month. LOL...think the boys behind WoW have a nice house and car?
