My official submission for Battle 31 over at

This weeks subject was Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

This is probably my favorite anime series/movies of all time. From the animation to the very adult coming of age story it's an absolute masterpiece which I highly recommend to anyone.

I know anyone who watches or knows my style thought I would do a realistic portrayal of Rei, but I'm such a big fan of the source material and I used to draw nothing but anime when I was younger, so I thought I'd go back to my roots and do it service!

I always loved the red sea and ominous moon so I had to add it to the piece. also, a particular lance

This is for the championship and I am up against a fantastic opponent. this guy can whip out quality stuff at light speed. he is definitely my toughest opponent yet!

UPDATE: added the 00's on her chest (how the hell did I miss that?) and changed the lighting on the staff.
