According to the latest news, they've finally redesigned that 70's reject of a ship. The one schematic I've seen makes it look like a smaller version of Archer's ship:

Illogical. You are in error; no "Star Trek" series was being recorded in the year 1970.

I never said it was. They were planning anew TV series at the time and when Star Wars hit big all the plans were upgraded and turned into Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Fortunately, the design that Ralph Macquarrie came up with was rejected and they simply upgraded the TV design:

Quite literally, you did. You used the 's which literally refers to the *possessive* of 1970. If instead you meant "reject of a ship" to anything made in the *range of years* 1970 through 1979, then, you should have omitted the apostrophe.

The 6th one is the alternate reality USS Enterprise, from the 2009, 2013 and 2016 movies. The last one is the USS Discovery from the new TV series, to be released later this year!
