EDIT:PLEASE READ THE COMMENTS AS WELL!!! There are a lot of good suggestions from other crusaders on how to crush the bug we call art thieves.
I was recently asked by a new member of #Doombringers how to report images.
Instead of going into the details, I thought I would make a tutorial on how to do it for people new to deviantART who are looking to make it a better place for everyone else.
This tutorial goes over just how to report for theft, but as you can see, there are many different things on deviantART that need reporting.
If you need any help with other categories to report, please do not hesitate to ask.
If you also need to find a link to another place a deviation is posted, use TinEye to find other places that it could be posted, that way deviantART will delete the offending images.

I have a question. Once you've reported an art thief, do they get notified?

The thief definitely doesn't get notified, and I don't think the original artist does either. I think dA only gets notified.

Sorry this is so late but I can tell you about the new report system what you do is
1. Go the the deviation that was stolen
2. scroll down until you see "Stats" on the right side of the page
3. you should see a button that says "Report Deviation"
4 click the "Report Deviation" button
5. Choose which category that the deviation that was stolen such as "Permission issues"
6. Tell deviantart the reason you think it was stolenΒ
7. in the second box type in the URL of the original artwork
8. tell them anything else you know

no, it just said how to report the stolen art, but not how to report the person. Granted, if someone is reported stealing enough, dA might already want to take action, but it doesn't say how here.
