Please report this person. They won't admit to tracing:

I don't either. I report it!

Too bad the admins won't delete it anymore

Anymore? As in recently? I've reported many things, and they've been deleted. Maybe it's 'cause people probably report tons of things that really don't need to be reported.

Nope. The entire point of this club is that deviantART stopped removing traces in the fan art gallery. Check this article.

Basically, you can't get traces removed anymore unless:

1. They contain parts of the original or
2. They are of another deviant's work.

And I even know of a deviantART member- a subscriber, no less- whose work was traced back in like, June or July. It's been five weeks since she reported it and the admins have sent her reports back as "invalid," even though she gave proof and stuff. It's really sick.

Oh, I see. See, I guess I was sort of incorporating art theft (as in actually art theft, without changes or very little) in the reportings.

Well, in that case, I guess it's just harder to prove. But, really, how can it not contain parts of the original if it was traced? I mean, even if you're just tracing a body/pose, it still contains parts of the original! Unless you mean that there is actually a part that wasn't traced and it was incorporated in with the rest that was traced?

Not sure how happy I am with this, but it sort of seemed this way from the beginning. And they make it sound like tracing is okay, you know, if it's practice.

I was using the dA definition, pretty much. "Contains parts of the original" meaning "shows parts that the tracer didn't color or paint over"...

You are completely right.

And tracing is very much not a good way to practice- they just want an excuse to not have to deal with traces. x__x I'm currently in the process of writing another news article that includes a bunch of stuff about why tracing is a really inferior "learning method."

Ugh, I know what you mean. o.e I've sent in 2 reports of pieces that were both traced/colored over another deviants art. Pfft. They even gave the original artists credit. And I still haven't got a reply yet from the admins. Is coloring over fan art now safe if it's credited? >.<

I don't know. I heard some fan art trace-overs were deleted a few days ago, and by that I mean, someone traced over someone else's non-traced fan art and the admins deleted it.

I wonder what would happen if I traced over someone else's trace, though...

Would it be legitimate fan art of legitimate fan art?

>.< It's just frustrating to see such hard work traced or edited and shamed.

xD Lmao. Better not do that. The tracer will call you unoriginal and without sounding like a total hypocrite , will call you a tracer and say you stole. D:

...and I still think it would be an interesting experiment xD

Besides, I could say I just traced from the original. Is it any different... xDDDD

I should make a stamp that says "I support original art" or something. Yay!

XD I'm belting these out basically as often as I can, but I hope I'm maintaining good quality here
