"She has been a tyrant today 😒"

"I know! I wouldn't be happy about being stuck in that cast either, but she doesn't have to take it out on us."

"Yeah, it's like, is this the only way she can feel like she's in control of something? Bossing us around to feel like she's in charge? 🙄"

"That makes sense ... and I was actually looking forward to this, too -- she used to be such a fun babysitter."

"Yeah, I remember how much you liked playing ... hmm. I have an idea 😈"

"Hey Angela! 😃"

"Yeah? 🤨"

Angela stared at the pre-teen girl standing in front of her, slightly leery of the wide grin on her face.

"My brother and I were just talking about how much we used to like playing tag and hide-and-seek with you, so we're going to play again now!"

"Uh, aren't you a little old for ..."

Angela heard her other babysitting charge walk up behind her, but decided to ignore him for the moment and continue her conversation with his younger sister.

"this kind of- aah!"

Angela instantly regretted falling for this distraction, as the teenage boy behind her slapped a piece of wide black tape over her eyes.

"Hey, that's- mmmMMMPH!"

Another piece of tape went over her mouth, and Angela again mmmph'd in protest as she strained against her cast to get her hands to her face. She heard his little sister approach her from the front, as he took a few steps backward, and he continued the conversation his sister started.

"You have to tag both of us-"

"😳 mmm-HMMM!"

The last thing Angela expected was for the girl in front of her to pull her pants down, leaving her wearing only her underwear, her cast, and the tape covering most of her face.

"-to get your pants back, and maybe we'll take the tape off too."

"🤬 hmm-NNNM!"

"My dad ordered that tape from one of those infomercials -- you know, the ones where they show using it to fix a leak in a boat while it's in water, so you might not even want us to take it off, with how much it's going to hurt! 😆"

"😥 mmm..."

"Okay, we're going to start on the count of three! You have to touch both of us to tag us; we can hide and we can run, so good luck! 😄"

Angela couldn't remember ever feeling more humiliated or frustrated. The only experience that came close was waking up after her gymnastics accident and discovering that she'd been imprisoned in a body cast while unconscious, then learning she'd be trapped in it indefinitely due to a combination of the acute injuries she'd just suffered and years-old chronic ones she'd never let heal properly. She always knew it was risky to ignore the pain in her arms and push herself harder and harder in gymnastics practice and competitions, but never expected this to result in the almost-complete immobilization of her upper body, nor to have no choice but to comply with such treatment. She had begged and pleaded for her freedom, to no avail, and after looking up how to remove a cast later that day, she realized this was impossible with both of her arms held in position.

Angela now found herself helpless, blind, and mute, in an unfamiliar environment -- this family had moved into this house at some point in the years between Angela's last time babysitting and this evening. She tried to feel her way around, but only succeeded in clumsily hitting her cast off of walls and door frames.
