"hmm-mm hmm mmm hmm-mmm?"

"I can't understand you."

Olivia mmmph'd and pointed to the glass in Bonnie's hand.

"Oh, you want a glass of wine?"

"mmm-hmm!"

"No, it was a huge pain to attach the feeding tube for your dinner, and then clean everything afterward, even with the aide's help. I'm not doing that again tonight."

"mmmph!"

"Feel free to go get some wine yourself. Oh, wait, you can't, because you went behind my back and had yourself put in a bigger cast than we agreed to."

Olivia clenched her fists and closed her eyes, and again strained against her cast in frustration, desperately trying to find some weak point or some way to break out of it. She gave up quickly, and sighed as she opened her eyes, after which she noticed that Bonnie had been watching her struggle.

"I am sorry that I couldn't get them to settle right away. I'll do everything I can to get the trial moved up, but I can't guarantee anything."

"hmm mmmMMM! nnnmm hmmm MMMMPH!"

"Don't take this out on me. You locked yourself in that cast prison. You gave up all control of yourself and your life as soon as that hardened, and you can't take that control back."

Olivia wiggled her fingers and stared at the red fiberglass encasing her arms and hands. She bent her fingers and felt the texture of the cast over her palms, then the soft white padding that marked the interface between inside the cast and outside. No matter what she did, she was in it and it was on her -- she couldn't overpower it, couldn't run from it, couldn't remove it in any way.

"mmm..."

"Now quiet down -- this is the season finale."
