Description Yeah, I know, technically a wyvern, blah, blah, blah... I prefer to think of wyverns as a subspecies of dragons anyway.
I had a blast making this   It was a request from one of my close friends; a dragon perched on a sunflower suggestive of a yin yang sign. Rather than using the tail fluff as the red dot, I put a ladybug on the dragon's camouflaged tail. It's my first drawing done in sketchbook pro, and I really had a lot of fun playing around with that.
Sorry the image is a bit small. I drew the original sketch on a little 5x8 sketchbook and forgot to resize when I put it on the computer  The idea was originally for an icon/symbol, so I guess it's ok.

Again with the detail! I love the layering of the colours, it's mottled scales and intricate marks on the sunflower centre, beautifully drawn

I love the reflective translucent thingy you did on the wings! Its really pretty! Makes me think of obsidian for some reason. Or like bismuth or somethin.

Thanks ^_^ That was my favorite part to do! Even though it was the most challenging.

Thanks ^_^
Actually, for the scales I used a photo I took of beach sand (the big, dark, grainy kind, from a trip to Cambria I think) and put a translucent layer of that over the shaded body, then another overlay of red tint on top so it wouldn't look so dusky and I could add the extra orange light areas... it's either a creative solution, or I cheated...
But either way, the whole thing did take me quite a few hours.

Hey, you have to be creative in art, and that was a very resourceful use of media. Besides, I use tons of effects on my art, my favourite being the grain effect and crosshatching, so I suppose I'm technically "cheating", too. Anyways, great job again

This is gonna sound dumb, but are those whole layer effects or brushes? You've got different programs than me so I was just wondering.

Both actually, you can find them in effects and you can find the brushes both under "wet media brushes" I believe, all in Photoshop.

I thought I recognized the grain filter from photoshop elements... my brush menu is a bit "buggy" as my computer sort of fights the program sometimes. Luckily, sketchbook pro seems to run super light on my cpu.

Well, your first sketchbook pro picture turned out lovely, and Sketchbook seems just as useful as photoshop.
