Description
a while ago, my good mate failurecrusade ([link] ) requested i go back to a few of my more notorious pix and rerender them in print resolution. i took the opportunity to polish up some scenes while i was at it. these are the scaled-down byproducts. These ships and locations are from the Angels Fall First Universe, a vast lucasian collection of fiction, game mods and art by a team of talented artisans and philosophers. do take the time to visit out home page - we are always recruiting. - [link]

Reminds me of some of the art in "Spacecraft 2000 to 2100 AD". Nice.

Badass. Just plain badass.
The blue energy beams, the flying missiles, the nebula background. The ship designs, the overall atmosphere of this....wow.
My only nitpick was that it took me a little while to tell the streams of missiles apart from the energy beams. I'd say if I were doing it, I'd have given the missiles somewhat different trails to better distinguish them from the particle beams.
Otherwise, really, really fantastic.
Faving now.

Nice sence of destructive power and good power colours in the background as well.

Kinda looks like a painting. If you rendered it like that, well... I think I might just go and have a lie-down then...

Also. When you give the ships to the texture artists, what do they want it as? An OBJ file and the texture map? Or just the max file as is and they can work it out from there? Does it matter that the mesh isnt one object but is many? Like the QuadHowitzer? Does the peices need to be seperate for animation? Im sorry to beat you down with n00b questions, but these are some things i needed to know.

mr. strangelet here is the primary texture artist for aff. typically we ask for a .obj, .3ds, .max, and if possible a .fbx (it works the best cross application). seperate objects is prefered for seperate components.

Oh. The Iris/Lens looking part on the front of all the ships is a energy weapon? Do these ships have a bridge? I havent delved deep enough into the forums to find the mechanical reasoning behind certian aspects of the ships. Very nice particle effects. You are using the afterburner pluging? Very good for explosions Using particle flow as well? The rockets pivot point is not centered and the smoke particles are being generated off center. The light beams, are they volumetric lights, or a lot of particles?

about the smoke. it's a cinema 4d plugin called pyrocluster and its extremely fast-rendering and requires no special lighting setup.
it works with the native particle systems and is fully scriptable. i do love the look of afterburner, but i havent got hold of it yet.
this shot, even at 3000x2000 took about an hour to render.

thats fast for such aa large render! After burner tends to be slower once you add in the lights

the iris is one of two varieties of weapon, either plasma or ion beam emitter. the ships bridge is internal and typically very close to the center of the ship.

Alright. Makes sence if you want to keep the crew alive in a fight.
