Description An artistic map of interstellar space close to our solar system.

I've still got to get the stars either a bit more polished or a bit more artistic, and I've still got to add national banners/coats of arms. And, yeah, it still needs a name

Uhm, I don't want to sound stupid, but, what's the proper name for the circumference lines your using? Like we have longitude and latitude, but I don't know the proper name for the one your using! >< LOL

Thank you!

Sorry for the thread necromancy.

When the zero plane of the map is parallel to the Earth's equator, longitude and latitude are called "right ascension and declination"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equatori…

If the zero plane is parallel to the plane of the galaxy (as this map is), longitude and latitude are called, wait for it, "galactic longitude and galactic latitude."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic…

Isaac Asimov used "Theta" for galactic longitude, "Phi" for galactic latitude, and "Rho" for distance from the center of the galaxy.

Relative directions are coreward, rimward, spinward, trailing, zenith, and nadir.
www.projectrho.com/public_html…
On the map,
Zero Degrees = Coreward
180 Degrees = Rimward
90 Degrees = Spinward
270 Degrees = Trailing
top edge of map = Nadir
bottom edge of map = Zenith

In all honesty, I've got no idea what they are called. None. At. All.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Okay! lol

Thank you!

I came up with a dead search. Looked under galaxy mapping, space mapping and such, but all I found was pictures, nothing about what they are called! I think I better check NASA's page! lol
