Description I really hesitate to post more photos of my Peach costume because I keep feeling like in every photo all I can see are the flaws, but I really love the shape of my dress that you can see from this "hallway" shot taken at Anime North by Tumblr user Professoryaoi. I know the shot isn't the greatest quality, but the shape of the dress that you can see here is exactly what I was trying to achieve.

Sadly, the dress looks so nice because that's the good side of the dress. The other side of the dress has several gathers that kind of ruin the shape. I'm actually going to be taking a seam ripper to the midsection of this dress to see if I can take it apart and move around the gathers. I really need to even it out. I just finished fixing the collar and upper part of the bodice. You can see in this photo that the bodice was pretty loose on me. I made a whole new collar after pulling the neckline up a bit. I love the collar shape that I made for the new one. The scallops turned out so much better on my second attempt when I took more time to make it slowly and think it through! Wish me luck on fixing up the midsection of the dress! I hope I don't regret wanting to fix it! It was such a pain in the butt to fix the first time. Anyway, once I'm done this last fix I can finally steam the dress and put it away until Otakuthon. It'll be nice to take a break from sewing. This costume has really wiped me out. >.<

Another amazing photograph! It really is awesome. Definitely good luck with the touch ups! It will be even more awesome when you are finished! Don't stop posting pics of it also if you like them! I wouldn't notice any flaws unless you point them out.

Thanks! I'm really glad I'm almost done fixing up the costume. I'm really eager to do a shoot of the costume in Montreal later in the summer. The changes are going to make me really happy with future photos of Peach. (^^)

I wonder what you have underneath your dress? -I plan to make a cosplay with a princess dress and I can not seem to figure out how to get it the way I want to-

A hoop and/or a petticoat slip are likely.

Straywind: you're one beautiful Peach.

Maybe I just wanted to ask since the skirt didn't look much like a hoop was underneath -Just curious-

SuperSaiyanMusashi is correct. (^^) I do have a hoop skirt on underneath the dress. It's a 3 hoop skirt to be exact. Without one the dress would fall completely flat. It was my first time wearing a hoop skirt and working with one, but it does wonders for the shape of a dress. I ordered my hoop skirt through eBay and I'm really happy with it.

If you're making a Princess dress I definitely recommend getting a hoop skirt. The number of hoops will depend on how full you want the dress to be. Also, depending on how heavy the fabric is that you're working with you might be able to get away with a petticoat instead. Hoop skirts are better for heavy fabric. My Peach dress weighs quite a bit!

Best of luck with your dress! (^_^)

Aaah okay o u o
I might try to work with a hoop skirt with a bit petticoat feature -I have seen people with hoop skirts where the fabric folded weirdly over it-

I will most likely work with cotton or satin -Only if I can find the right color |D- But thank you for answering ^^ It cleared some doubt I had about it in my head

That was my concern as well (that the hoop skirt would show through the dress and would look weird). I purchased a hoop skirt that had two layers of tulle over it. That with the weight of the dress kept the hoops from showing through.

Sounds like you have some good ideas for the project! (^_^)
