I know fundamentelist christians and catholics will hate me for this, but education is better than lies! Also, I will make one for Pentacles (the one with the circle around it)
What does a pentagram mean then?
Multiple things;
- The five elements of life - Air, Water, Fire, Earth, Soul
- Humanity or the human body
- Exorcism
- In Christianity, the five wounds of Jesus
- In Ancient Babylonian culture, it represented Gods and religous beliefs
- In Wicca, it is considered to bring protection of some kind. (Up = Protection spells, Down = Depleting spells)
- In Paganism, it can represent infinity or protection of one's self aswell
Then why is it seen as evil now (esp among christians)?
It's well known that during the early spread of Catholicism, they were determined to get anyone who they thought to be "Pagan" (aka anyone who wasn't christian) to convert. This can also be seen in the fact most historians and people who research into possible truth to religion almost comfirm that Jesus would've been born in the Summer, and Christmas was a way to appopriate Pagan holidays so Pagans would be more likely to convert.
It's not too much of a stretch to believe that they may have taken pagan symbols and declared them as "anti-christ" to further convert people. Roots of original Paganism can be seen within Celtic culture, and it is well known that Catholics have been quite violent in destroying celtic religious cultures.
It's to be assumed it's a belief passed down through catholicism and then through protestantism over time, no one truely questioning it in fear of being persucuted. It simply came with anti-"pagan"/pro-catholicism beliefs and attempts to guilt people to convert.
Don't hate people because they wear or have a pentagram on their profile because you think "it's satantic and horrible!!". Learn something first and don't always believe what you have been told since childhood.
