I evey you for two reasons. (ok, for many but two big ones) You got to see this place in person and you took an absolutely beautiful shoot with no tripod....

Without a tripod! And still so sharp! Really great. Love the colours.

Have been in a mining cave this summer (and been in some natural caves before) - you cannot find there what's pictured here, really. That water has been there for so long that all the sand has sunk to the bottom, or it has never even been in contact with sand. Beautiful!!!

sturm In reply to darkblue [2005-10-31 09:26:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well, I had *some* support from some rocks, of course... but even then, it's still hard to keep your camera steady I can assure you
About the water: I believe that it was a single pool, so no running water and on top of that, you couldn't get near it, so there was little chance of sand getting in there and the sand that does, probably goes to the bottom rather quick.

Thanks for the nice comment

It's so beautiful! I could die in that cave...(that's a compliment!) I really like how the red hues of the cave walls contrast with the blue of what I assume is a cavern lake. It adds a peaceful calm to what would otherwise be a possibly stifling environment. Is it just me or is there a very loose theme with it and Furnace? The passage eventually leading to a point of colored space in the distance... At any rate, I really enjoy it. Very lovely!

Aaaww... thanks for that nice comment and for the
Yes, it's indeed a cavern lake and the sight had me "ooooh-ing" and "aaah-ing" as well, so I decided to try and capture it; as said somewhere above, I didn't have a tripod and I had to use slow shutter speed to get the lighting right, so it was a bit of a gamble if the shot would turn out ok, but I'm *very* happy with the result.

Hmm, if there is a link with Furnace , it's unintentional, I didn't really had the theme "passage leading to a colored point in the distance" in mind when shooting either one of the photo's. But it's an interresting thought, I might explore it a bit further and yet *make* it a theme

Again, thanks for your time and for your sweet comment

The fact that you did that on a slow speed and that it didn't come out blurred is truely a feat in and of itself! I bet you're awsome at Jenga. ^_^

It was kinda tricky because I had no tripod and the tour in the cave didn't leave much room for taking photographs, but I'm happy with the result
