It took my about a week to finish it, and I'm kind of still working on it (.. ) I didn't spend lots of money on this.
I think what you need to buy is air-dry clay, stings , glue, and acrylics .
I bought white acrylic for Lambo's horn [link] and "stole" little bit of black and red from my art cram school
The process is pretty hard if you hate or is really, really bad at making stuff. It is pretty hard, if you drop it, it wouldn't break . It's light too. but I think those weird plastic ones will be lighter ;;
but don't smash it or anything;;

My friend and I were thinking about using Paper Mache for our cosplay outfits for Nekcon and Animazement for next year. But we have to to make a large circle mask to stick our heads in. xD Any tips you could give us?

I'm not sure what you mean but like one that cover all the head like a scuba helmet? (does this even make sense?)
Well the only thing I can think of is using traditional baloons (they sell extra large baloons at party stores) or if you have someone with a motorcycle helmet, wrap it with a plastic wrap and paper mache it~
I belive I can give a better suggestion if I know what character you are cosplaying~ well, happy cosplay : )

We planned on doing the Owl and Redd from Animal Crossing. And we thought that we would be too itchy with make up(specially since my senitive skin growls at it. hehe.) So we need like, Extra Sized heads. xD Sorry that I was unclear.

I mean, the best way is to carve down a big mass of sponge but it's really hard to find. (why did I even suggest this?)
Another alternative is to use wires to make the 'skeleton' of the head and then covering it with traditional paper mache (with news paper strips and glue) Many people use this method.

Next time, use joint compoun (like the stuff you use to repair walls) over it and sand it. It'll give it a smoother finish.

NICE!!!! id do this but mie would come out terrible. thts y i found a much easier tutorial where u use a milk carton and it still looks pretty decent. Nice tutorial tho!

did you know this is, like, the only legitimate freaken anbu mask tutorial i can find?! ill just follow yours...(i am secretley doing anbu cosplay to fsc...of naruto..on saturdaylol)
