Still working on the last part - post questions, suggestions, and encouragement below~
EDIT 05/19/2014: Made sure to add that 12 gauge wire is equivalent to hanger wire, as the latter is becoming harder to find in some areas.
EDIT 05/16/2017: Hot tip from TatianaDragonWhisper , if you find dog collars at your local dollar store you can harvest parachute buckles & D-rings from them for cheap!
Already finished your wings? Please fill out this questionnaire , I'd love to hear about it!

Is what I'm using to feather the wing-cover, since you can cut it into small pieces without it fraying, but I've seen others use faux fur, or still doubling/painting two layers of fabric together for strength and THEN cutting the tiny arm-cover feathers - will compile a list of dif materials/results others have come up with one of these days...
Also, is in addition to fabric.

question....why paint? is it a substitute for glue, or does it work better? just wondering. is it the thickness or weight needed, or is it just what you had on hand? thanks

Well, while I haven't officially compared the cost of a gallon of glue to a gallon of paint, yes it was originally what I had in hand - white gesso, to be precise, but Walmart paint worked just as well for cheaper.
I know another wing maker who uses silk for fabric, straws for the shafts, and a brand of wallpaper glue to hold it together, which if it dries clear would be awesome! So yeah, while I'll eventually try glue myself feel free to experiment - dunno which is "better".

Thanks for this! I'll be hopefully starting on my own pair shortly!
And just to make sure I'm reading this right but it calls for 11-12 yards of fabric? That kinda seems like a lot haha

Yes, yes it is.
But really, the amount I measured was only 36 inches wide – if the fabric that you are buying is doubled over (a.k.a. closer to 45 - 60 inches long or wide) then you can buy half of this amount.
