This is great! The detailing is incredible, seriously. If you don't mind me asking, what materials do you use to make these? I'm not very clued up with sculpting. I can't get over how real it looks, especially the folds and creases in the skin. Keep it up!

Wow that's one realistic Fist!
Why is the nail is slightly yellow?

Thanks man! I was trying something new by baking small pieces of clay and then pressing them into the soft clay. I baked the nails a little too long

You mean you baked the nails and stuck them into the clay? good idea.
Yeah the color does look slightly over baked, I've done much worse,
baked a lions head awhile ago that went black, it actually caught on fire, would have helped if I
didn't get mixed up with Fahrenheit vs Degrees Celsius...

Yeah, it looks pretty reasonable for places that are hard to get to and sometimes it just looks a little more realistic. I used to get black/brown marks on my sculpts, but I finally figured out...well, read haha a way around that.

I read heaps on what to do and not to do when baking, the method I "read"
Is to bake them at lower temperatures than suggested, but for longer periods, but
so far I haven't figured out the perfect baking times, isn't longer baking good for strength?
I made a sculpt years ago that we didn't cook for long, and it seemed to get damaged easily.

I bake mine between 200-210 degrees for 10-15 mins for something small like a hand and if the sculpt is about an inch or more thick, I bake for about an hour and a half, but I bake all my sculpts several times as I add pieces, so the time in the oven varies, but as you said...low temp for longer and I've never had a problem. Another trick is to let it cool in the oven with the door closed overnight...that is, if it's a big sculpt. Cuts down on the cracking.

Yep, I always leave them in the oven to cool down now, the greatest tip you can get.
True, I think my sculpts get brown areas due to the elements being close to those parts, need a bigger oven!

Thanks! It just takes patience and practice. I looked at my own hand and to try to get a realistic look.

Thanks! The finger nail was baked separately and press into the clay while it was soft. The nail will be painted a slight white-ish color and will be a little more convincing later on.

Haha, very realistic, for some weird reason I thought of John MaCain from Die Hard 4 going, "What the hell is that? You are a wannabe serial killer or somethin'?"
