Description 1/4 scale Eastwood inspired Wolverine in Brown Costume.  Sound crazy?  Check it listverse.com/2014/05/22/10-ha…  and I've always thought the attitude and style reminded me of Clint's movie characters.

Thanks!  I took the pic from slightly above, so that may be it, but it's the Capcom version with the giant hands and arms, so that doesn't help lol

oops thought you commented on my latest submission, the juggernaut.  My B.  The wolverine is exact human proportions.  I took the measurements from a real person that's a little over 5 ft tall (wolverine height in the comics) and transferred it to 1/4 scale.

ah going for the actors height
the juggernaut is good i like that one
i usually think of hero proportions but hey i like it either way

Hi Chris man this is good stuff I always loved those two characters... I can hear Clint now "Mister...I don't like the way ya smell Bub...snick, snick, snick (that's snick is slicing & dicing)"
Ha! Great job I think you capture your 2 in 1 perfectly. Nice going... Bub;O)

Your welcome Chris! Question for you: How do you get your Polymere clay to such a polished look ? Our is that just in the finished product?

Thank you for the responses. Keep up the great work.

Well this wolverine is made mostly from Monster clay and the head is Ralph's wax.  I just used my hands for this one, but you can bake and then sand polymer clay down to a smooth finish or even get some of that effect from applying rubbing alcohol with a soft brush before you bake it.  Some people spend a ton of time of getting a near mirror finish.  You start low and end with high grit and then a polishing pad.

Thank you for the great tips. I haven't tried the Monster clay yet mostly I been working with sculpey & Chavant wax. I've seen that you've mixed the sculpey with wax is that right in some of your projects?

sup3rs3d3d In reply to StuSwensen [2014-11-27 04:28:29 +0000 UTC]

No prob.  Yeah.  I usually make the heads out of castilene and the bodies out of sculpey or some sort of clay.

Looking mighty indeed bro! heh, with the wire sticking out like that it kinda looks like he's got toe blades which would be awesome and would totally make sense, in fact I don't understand why wolverine doesnt have bladed feet also! that would be sick!

Thanks buddy!  Haha I see what you mean and actually there's a female clone character called x-23 that has a single blade that comes out of the feet and two blades on the hands.  I never read too much into her story, but she seems pretty badass.

lol nah, but I like it...Never dries out and easy to soften.  Not sure how well it will hold up to casting though..Artist's constipation haha!  Cx5 seems good for likenesses....you could try that maybe?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim-Osullivan In reply to sup3rs3d3d [2014-11-13 15:56:22 +0000 UTC]

yeah, that was my only negative on MC, was too soft as it arrived and need some paraffin wax to stiffen it. I found that when temps got warm, it would melt or slump compared to Chavant which just sweated a touch but went nowhere!

so based on that, I favour Chavant personally. Just wish I had lots of room to work. Hence the change to wax again. don't need much room at all.

As for the constipation, maybe I should eat the CX5 and hopefully sh* Masterpieces!!! pmsl!!

Yah, defo good for portraits and full bodies Chris. I watched the Stan Winston video with Adam Beane using it to do life sculpture. Very enjoyable so I caved and bvought some.

maybe I really should eat it!.......... hmmmm.

LoL it does smell kinda good haha...I too watched the vid and got pumped, but I personally don't like to work with CX5 a whole lot.  It was too brittle.  I was working on a portrait once and had the whole thing split in two.  It also cooled too fast.  I think I still prefer doing a rough sketch in castilene and then doing a transfer to something like Ralphs wax.  It casts like a dream!  If you need the link for the site let me know.

Tim-Osullivan In reply to sup3rs3d3d [2014-11-14 10:07:35 +0000 UTC]

heya Chris,

I have the new CX5-S ; which is softer and takes longer to cool. I didn't buy the 'new' CX5 compared to the Test Batch I had a sample of which was gummy and brittle.

I hear ya on wax transfers; def the way to go but expensive so I need to cut out a step due to my budget.

Like the Castilene. good stuff.  I'm hoping that in the future I can make OOAK with the waste methods. I have the link for Ralphs thanks Chris. Just not tried some yet. My 4 bars of CX5 cost me 179 dollars! (ouch!)  and Ralphs would be the same per lb plus shipping...... It didn't seem cost effective to order a single LB and pay the 70 dollars to ship it quickly.

Yeah, I heard something about the "new" batch.  Nice to know they screwed me out of my money bc I trusted their product would work as shown.  They won't be getting my money again, nor my praise.  I also don't really care to work purely in wax or any material that I can't shape with my hands unless it's for finishing work.  All mediums and products are hype anyway.  It's up to the artist....and they certainly hyped the hell out of that product.  I'll know better next time.

Tim-Osullivan In reply to sup3rs3d3d [2014-11-14 23:43:06 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I was lucky in that someone kindly gave me a sample to try. I cant complain about the new stuff yet. Only had a play with a single chunk but it seems better.

Have to admit, I enjoy the clay process in oil clays. Love the addition of clay with small stokes and gesture strokes. If money wasn't tight, I would likey do what you'r doing Chris. I really love Hard Chavant and Beau-Touche. Lovely clays and so cheap too. At least by English standards; most stuff is preeetty expensive here.

I knocked up a new wax piece tonight as I had the house to myself. Was a hybrid wax of 360 and Monster clay. Quite nice. not so super tough that it felt like scraping Concrete!! lol.

Yeah man, you did get lucky.  You said you're having sculpting constipation and I think I'm having some sort of sculpting diarrhea/sculpting ADD lol...I got some stuff to start on a punisher, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon, though I do have a pose and some weapons picked out. :-D

Well, I just pooped out a couple Chris! lol...

Been playing with the Cx5S to get a feel for I. Made an 11 female body to see what it's like. Better than previously.  Just to be sure, I made a lil miniature figure about 3 inch.  Holds detail well and models like sculpey when warmed properly, overall, expensive but worthwhile for me.

Sadly it's now cold and grey each day so no chance to try my back-iron with an armature. Heyho, wax and digital for the now.

Looking forward to seeing your Punisher dude! Youll have to do me a special one with a Change-o head of Clint sporting the slicked back 'Do.....

lmao good to hear it.  I look forward to seeing it.  Change o head for punisher too, hey? haha I'm not sure what sort of face I'll be using as inspiration.  I need to flip through some old comics and search the interwebz before settling on a face.  All I know for sure is what weapons he'll be holding and that it'll be 1/6 scale.

People are always jonsin' for the 1/4 lol  Those things take up too much space! There's also another reason I'm going for a 1/6. It's going to be a modern look.  The comic spandex with white gloves just doesnt go well with his persona to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim-Osullivan In reply to sup3rs3d3d [2014-11-18 10:11:26 +0000 UTC]

haha, I agree on the space issue Chris. I don't have room for a ton of em for sure. Good thing about 1/6 is all the accessories you can get if you wanted to avoid making weapons ad such. It's a good size too and you can see detail clearly enough.

Looking forward to seeing your version of a Modern Punisher.

I'm trying to finish my Z Brush one. Added more detail and anatomy. It's looking better. The Back was a weak area for me but I'm improving at the forms I think.

sup3rs3d3d In reply to Tim-Osullivan [2014-11-20 06:10:34 +0000 UTC]

Yup and that's definitely a strong reason for 1/6...I don't want to deal with making tiny, perfect little objects with dozens of parts just to be able to cast them.  That's a job for zbrush and even that would be quite time consuming and expensive to reproduce.

Good to hear you brought up the back area.  It's not one the easier parts to learn.  Later bro!

Tim-Osullivan In reply to sup3rs3d3d [2014-11-20 08:37:51 +0000 UTC]

straight-line design is an art and one you gotta enjoy. Like you, I'm likely more in to organics than hard surface. I have made pistols in Zbrush but in box modelling; a real ball ache! lol.

I'll sling some back shots up on my page....

sup3rs3d3d In reply to Tim-Osullivan [2014-11-20 12:39:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I mean this is where I'm coming from about it...Sure, I could spend 50 hrs making what amounts to an accessory, but why?  I can buy one that's the right size and fit for the statue and so can anyone else at 1/6 scale.  I'm one guy with a full time job and I'm no masochist lol.  If I had zbrush where it's more simplified ..maybe, but I don't and even that would be hard to cast without breaking an already small part into even smaller pieces for a mold.  Id have to stick to a simple weapon like an uzi or shotgun, but I want bigger, more intricate weapons...and a lot of them..so fuck dat lol  This punisher is being made to take on an army.  I'm pretty stoked about it...but damn, I've already got too much to do.  :' ( <--tear lol

I'll go check out your post/s bro
