is this a dandelion? It's so soft and fuzzy, it's gorgeous! And so clear too, did you use a tripod or anything when you took this? I love the blue hue too, it's so relaxing and very peaceful.

it's some kind of fluffy-seed plant. i think it's milkweed. i didn't use a tripod though... just hand-held the camera

Am I correcting in guessing that this is a dandelion? If so you should check out my macro of a dandelion and for it a full view is a must but it is one hell of a full view. Trust me!

i like the blueish coloring. serene image. makes me a little nervous, but hopeful when you take into account the nice description. i was so expecting the fourth line to rhyme with know. call it the rhymer in me. i like rhyming poems. .. oh man! i just got to thinking abou the movie the Princess Bride. when Fezzik and Inigo are rhyming on the boat. ahh. i've seen too many movies.

superkev In reply to Hettar7 [2005-08-30 04:20:10 +0000 UTC]

indeed a great movie

Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.

oh, you quote movies like i do. i can't tell how many movies i've almost memorized.
how about this: "you fell victim to one of the classic blunders! the most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this, never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line. ha ha ha. ha ha ha. *thunk*"

one of my other favorite movies to quote is mystery men. have you seen it? if not, you must. it's imminently quotable.

Hettar7 In reply to superkev [2005-09-01 20:49:15 +0000 UTC]

i think i've seen it, or parts of it. is it the one with the odd super hero group? i don't remember it well enough to quote anything though. now i'll have to go and rent it.

one of my favorite movies to quote is "murder by death". i highly recommend it. it's quotable, but you'll get funny looks if you do.

superkev In reply to Hettar7 [2005-09-01 20:53:03 +0000 UTC]

hehe i'll have to look up murder by death. yes, mystery men has the weird superheroes in it. it's definitely worth a watch, just for its succinct visual storytelling eyecandy alone.

so what is your favorite movie? favorite movie quote?

superkev In reply to Hettar7 [2005-09-02 11:21:18 +0000 UTC]

wow... that's like asking "what's my favorite food?" which is also an impossible question. i have so many. the matrix is actually quite high on my list, and is quotable too. for sheer silliness of quoting, monty python and the holy grail is near unbeatable. mystery men too. in mystery men there's a great scene that the quotes won't fully do justice... mr. furious is trying to make an impression on the girl working in the cafe, so he saunters up to the counter and pretends to be some kind of badass. he strikes up a conversation with her about motorcycles. she seems bored, but she asks what kind of bike he has. he says, "it's a harley... *cough* compatible." her total lack of being impressed cracks me up every time.

ahhh another exchange from the cafe in MM:

Mr. Furious: Lance Hunt is Captain Amazing.
Blue Raja: Oh, here we go.
Shoveler: Oh, don't start that again! Lance Hunt wears glasses. Captain Amazing doesn't wear glasses.
Mr. Furious: He takes them off when he transforms.
Shoveler: That doesn't make any sense. He wouldn't be able to see!

ok you may shoot me now.

oohh. food would be a tough one too. i think french fries would win out for me. but it'd be a messy fight.
monty python is great. the scene with the black knight cracks me up every time. "what are you gonna do, bleed on me?" i can almost hear the inflection of the voice in the last sentence of your MM quote. priceless i'm sure.

here's one for you from Murder by Death. it's with a frumpy female detective and her old near senile nurse. they're sitting in bed trying to solve a murder:
Miss Marbles: *sniff* *sniff* I smell gas.
Miss Withers: i'm sorry i can't help it i'm old.
Miss Marbles: no no. not that kind of gas. the kind that kills.
Miss Withers: sometimes my gas ....
Miss Marbles: it's seeping in through the vents!
Miss Withers doesn't smell that bad to me.

my sister and i quote it between us.

How very apropos...holding on...then letting go...that which is apparent - and that which is needed for finer inspection, is it not?

The full view is a must. For, if not, the main-stream will only see that the piece is about serenely and pliantly withdrawing...effortlessly. It is languid, poetry in motion with blue hues akin to a ballet.

However, in the full-view, one will notice the dof is the small creature holding onto the small threads of his/her inhabiting sustainment...now traveling together...breaking away from the mainstay - perhaps, a small part leaving the nest...?

Again, fine work.

Must confess I've snapped the odd dandelion in my time, but I really like the way you've managed to capture one of the... err... offshooty bits (?) in this shot.

It's especially impressive considering the limited DOF you must of been working with.

yeah, a full view is a must or it looks like a pixelated mess.

the composition is great, but I do have a few issues with it. (what a suprise )

the bug (or hwatever it is) I feel is not needed. not that you can control mother nature or anything, but it distracts me from the (enter the name of whatever it is here)

the blue color is great

the dof is sort of extreme. there is alot in focus, but having the center of the thing flying away would have been better. its sort of like getting someone's hair in focus in a portrait, but leaving their face out. but the dof is beautifull on the ovject in the left corner.

yeah, I think thats about it.

all in all, an easy A

waahh! One of those thigns attacked me today on my way to meet my brother. But I evaded it. was tricky, because i had a biology textbook in my bag and any sudden movements threatened to send me flailing in a tumble of off balancedness. But I survived anyhow, this is cool. looks like there's a wee bug there..perhaps a wee misquito..eviiiil misquiiiito...gr.

I think the fluffy was just trying to say hello. They are not the attacking kind. Yes, there is a wee bug caught in there. It's not a mosquito though. It's just the little gnat-type bug that the dragonflies love munching.

Pretty nice picture. I'm also not so sure what the subject is but this looks like some macro. This could be also in abstract category but expressive is ok also. I would think that if you fix that little white thing in right side of the picture this would be much better. Btw, that is not related to this picture but how long you have been interested about photography? I intend that you have much good pictures in you gallery so propably it is somewhat longer time period. After all, keep submitting some of your good work to here because it is always interesting to look good pictures. Propably that is one way of inspiration to me anyway.

superkev In reply to d2s [2003-09-06 16:58:57 +0000 UTC]

I've been taking photos for my whole life, but only have submitted photos from the last two years or so. The only exceptions to this are a couple of Alisha that I took 12 years ago.

BTW, the photo is of one of those fluffy white seed things you see floating through the air. In this photo, it's in the process of breaking away from the seed pod to begin its journey.

Nice.. just as I thought. Depth of focus works fine in this. I'm graduated some time ago from vocational school's visual communications line where I learned much and got interested about photography and things related to it. But currectly I got little problem.. I don't own any camera. But I will try to buy some someday soon when I have more money. But ok, now I must go.

I'm so freaking jealous of your camera it's not funny. [gollum] We wants it! [/gollum] That blue cast is nice, is that 'real' thru the lens or post-processed? The only thing that's bugging me is that little white speck above center. Clone that sucka.

I tinted this blue-ish in CaptureOne dSLR which is an amazing program for RAW file processing. Thanks for pointing out the speck. I will probably fix it later. So far, the only Photoshop work done on this is the addition of my copyright text.
