I have spent too much time on this...
This was a result of a need to get the Mass Effect ending from my system. Funny thing is it took so long to make, I was pretty much over it half-way through XD Even funnier is I just cried a little right now
One of the jillion things that bothered me about this ending was that the characters most dear to me didn't even seem to be on Lara Shepard's mind. As explosions were going off, images of Joker, Anderson and... Liara? seem to flash before her eyes. I was kind of outraged. I absolutely love Joker and Anderson, but... Liara? She's great and all, but... No chance of Garrus's face to pop in her mind instead? They ARE in a relationship after all! HE VENTURED INTO THE IDEA OF HAVING KIDS, FOR F**K'S SAKE!
It's funny that everything else about that ending would pretty much make sense if we have in mind the popular Indoctrination Theory (which I'm all on board with), but this... this, haha, really bothered me
Somehow it's like Liara's friendship is forced down my throat a lot of times. No ofense to Liara fans, she's actually a great character, just not one I'm specially fond of. And I really just wanted to see Tali, and Garrus... and Mordin... and Legion and Wrex... one last time... *tear flood* So all this just added to the feeling that the ending could've been rushed and put together as quickly as possible.Hence this.

I'm not going to lie, it is hard for something I read or see to make me cry. The tears were pouring, and I haven't even tried reading it with the music from the youtube link. It's just so, oh god my feels. It's so sad. She sees them all around her in her last moments and she's crying because she knows she has to leave them all behind and oh god the tears. This is so beautifully done and I'm so sad.

I chose Control, because I couldn't kill the Geth after Legion's sacrifice, or EDI. I couldn't end the Quarians hope for a life without suits in their lifetime. But I can still see it like this when I disintegrated holding onto the controls.
This five set piece you've done is emotionally supreme in conveying its message. Excellent work.

We're so cynical these days! I find a lot more things in entertainment, be it games, movies or books, have a very hard time giving us happy endings anymore because of that. I'm glad you appreciated my words.
I had to go with control myself, because my Shepard would never sacrifice others on the off-chance he would make it, or when there was a chance to save others. There was never a point where he would have refused the aid of others, given or taken honestly, such as the Batarians. It only seemed natural to me that instead of more destruction he would take the way that saved as many as he could. Any of the three ended the war, but only two minimized the destruction. I thought there had been enough, already.
I've seen enough of it in real life to have lost the taste for it, I can only imagine how Shepard feels.

I made the same choice with my femShep for the exact same reasons. The 'synthesis' option seemed overly Utopian, not to mention a huge invasion of free will, to alter the DNA of all species in existence. It was almost the exact thing the reapers had been doing themselves, but to the opposite extreme. And, like you, I couldn't choose destruction because of all those synthetics that had become allies and friends--lives that could not be sacrificed in good conscience. It would have gone against everything my Shepard stood for.

Well I'm an indoctrination theory junky, so I understand why people choose those, kinda, but I can never ever unless bioware changed it beyond recognition.
And I can only imagine what war is like, fortunately for me.

I'm not a follower of the indoctrination theory, but as far as conspiracy theories go, it's pretty interesting. I'm taking Bioware's word on the issue that it's not true, but it certainly would add a terrifying facet to the story.
I find however, that it just kind of destroys other people's choice at the end if it were true, and I can understand why Bioware has been so adamant to make sure everyone knows that it is false. Because otherwise there would only be one ending to really choose. People would be even more up in arms than they are already if they stopped to think about it.
War is something different from what most people expect, especially gamers. It's wise to wish to avoid it. One way or another, it gets its claws in you, and doesn't let go.

I don't believe Bioware explicitely said it wasn't "true", in fact they keep praising all of the "speculation", keep handing us little winks such as hidden words and the sort and made the Indoctrination Theory forum thread "official". So no, they did not deny it
War sucks. Except for some. Some get a really good deal out of it no matter who wins.

Well, if they planned on continuing the story, there could only be one "canon" ending. Though maybe if you knew all about Indoc Theory and they finally went with it, you might find it the awesomest trolling ever and the first time the player has been truly indoctrinated like the protagonist XDDD Frankly I find it brilliant, if they finally confirmed it, which I hope they do.

Oh no, it'd definitely be brilliant. Heartlessly so. But I don't think I'd ever see it. When Mass Effect 3 ended, that was the end for the series for me.
That game is oddly tied to my memories of my time in the military, and they both ended pretty close to each other, and kinda heart-breaking in both cases so. So now it's like "That one song" to me. Maybe I'll bust it out every now and then, but this is it.

This is beautiful... truly... I only wish the actul ending to this game was this emotionally gripping. Damn BioWare and their "artistic vision" there were so many better ways to end this series. How I would have loved to build Tali a house on Rannoch...
And as for seeing Liara in the last moment flashes thing, in the original game it was always either her, Ashley, or Kaidan I beleive. They fixed it in the extended cut ending to show some of the different romantic interests, Garrus, Tali, and Thane for example. I'm sure the others romantic interests could be seen depending on player choice.
