A pretty cute image of a nicely working pair!

He is a little behind the vertical and his poll is slightly dropped, but it could simply be a moment of correction and as the rider softens the hand he'll probably spring back to, if not slightly in front of the vertical and his poll will rise again to be, appropriately, the highest part of his spine (not neck, the crest can appear to be higher than the poll, but we're talking the underlying structure of the bones, the poll should be highest, not the 1st, 2nd, or later vertebrae).

The rider is slightly slumped through the shoulders, though her back isn't roached as I would expect it to be. You could almost lasso her upper torso and scootch it forward a smidge and bring her into near-perfect alignment. You have a lovely line from bit-to-elbow, but the upper arm is a little far forward. Ideally the upper arm is perpendicular to the ground, which allows it to be absorbed into the greater body mass, specially as the horse's position suggests he might be checked or restricted slightly through the rein. The rider's hand appears a bit on the small side in proportion to the rest of her and the wrists appear slightly cocked out of alignment with the forearm and rein.

Still a nice job overall and the piece as a whole looks complete and well-rounded.

I don't get what you mean behind the vertical. I think I know what you mean about the poll. The curve at the ears should be the highest point of the spine and here it's at the middle of the neck?

"You have a lovely line from bit-to-elbow, but the upper arm is a little far forward. Ideally the upper arm is perpendicular to the ground.." Aaah I get this too! I think this is how I slip into looking like when I ride. I think my shoulders come forward a bit in an attempt to keep my hands low, forward and together. Then I push them back and its comfortable and everythings good, but as I ride I forget about it again. lol It'll come eventually.

"Ideally the upper arm is perpendicular to the ground" Do you mean the point from elbow to shoulder? And I agree, the hands are too small.

Quick visual explanation: [link] Hopefully that helps.

Yes, that curve right behind the ears represents the poll and first vertebrae of the neck and should be the highest point. The crest shouldn't be considered, especially in particularly cresty breeds (most Baroque breeds, drafts, chubby ponies *grin*). He's not quite broken in the middle of the neck, but definitely somewhere between the 2nd and 4th vertebrae.

I tend to open my elbows a bit too much as well. It takes a bit of effort to keep those elbows "grounded" so to speak! Funny how one thing leads to another and affects everything else!

Yes, upper arm = shoulder to elbow.
