is it still necessary to do your army duty in greece? as we do in turkey.. here, if you have only turkish citizenship you must go the army for 5 or 15 months...and it used to be 18-24 months in the past.. hopefully it's changed..
most of my friends in greece found very easy to be soldier.. but in turkey and israel... it's fckin boring and hard! so that's why i'm a little bit jealous you guys. and also we have a bad situation here, against pkk (kurdish terrorist group) almost everyday, soldiers are being under attack by pkk's mines and bombs.. so if you're not lucky and go to the east border of turkey for your duty, you'll probably have stressful days.. in israel, boys go to the army for 3 years, girls 2.. the girl that i'm in love is in the israeli defences forces now 
i don't wanna go to the army man :d they will probably send me to NATO, cuz i can speak turkish, hebrew, english and a little french, also starting to learn greek :d and moreover, i'm interested in international relations

Yeah, Greek men have to go to the army for 1 year or one and a half if they chose to be officers. Greek army is obviously boring, too, although at least it's safer than Turkish (or even worse Israeli) since we are not at war with anyone, plus we have mercenaries (like in the US army) for serious army jobs (like NATO expeditions). The reason we have to go to the army is supposed to be the "Eastern threat" (yeap! that's you 
As for your service time, you can always try not to reveal your knowledge of foreign languages to the army

As you said, in Greece they think there's a threat comes from Turkey.. And in Turkey, some says Greece has "Megali Idea"

But in real, i'm not sure or has enough information for the Greek side but in Turkey we do not really care about our west border, cuz the threat comes from the East
We the Turks and Greeks, we have much more in common than we know.. Look, if a Turkish student should live in abroad, for ex. in Europe for his education and if he tries to find a homefriend.. Greek friend would be the best for him.. And than Israeli, Italian and Spanish friends would be too.. It's about being southern maybe but if we're talking about Turks and Greeks, it's more than being southern.
You know, i'm also Greek by my mom... And i've a Greek noise

It's not the people that continue that old hate, but politicians (and probably military officers, too) that take advantage of the "patriotic enemy" idea to control their people easier.
As for the "Megali Idea" is long forgotten and abandoned since 1920. The idea now is to maintain what is already ours, defend our country from invasions...
