Ahem, sorry, but I already reduced this picture a lot, there are some details that you can't see properly >.> I'll probably submit some close ups in my scraps later on, maybe even the full version ^^

My life's story

Actually this picture was not supposed to exist. At the beginning, I drew a sketch on paper, and as usual I wanted to take a photo with my digital camera and then trace my lineart digitally so that I can cg it. BUT somehow my camera died in the process and all my pictures were ruined, including those I had taken during my birthday party Ssssoooo during a few days I turned emo and finished crashing my camera.

But there was a contest I really wanted to enter and I knew I had to begin cging because the contest dead line was on August 1st but I'm leaving on July 24th and can't have access to a computer till August 16th.

So I started this picture totally from scratch. And I can tell you it's really hard to begin when you're in front of a blank computer screen It's very diferent from a blank paper anyway ^^ This picture was made entirely from scratch with only a mouse and Phtoshop 7, no tablet, no scanner, no digital camera (), no refs (except me in my bathroom mirror )

I don't want to show off, it's just to tell you that I really put a lot of effort in this picture I started with the eyes, it's how I always do ^^ but I had to redo the lineart countless times -_-

My idea was pretty simple: personification of the sea (pretty lame idea, I know, it's a personification contest and I saw some ideas and entries that just blew my mind

Anyhow, I still hung on my personification of the sea, and I tried to represent in this picture all the ideas that I thought were related to the sea. Fishes, seashells, seaweed, sand, sun, waves... Her blond hair refers to the sun and the sand, and her hairstyle to the sea life ^^ *If you read this comment till the end, write donald duck somewhere in your comment xD* I drew a lot of jewelry because the sea also reminded me of the sailors, and especially pirates (lol that must be because of the POC -Dead man's chest- movie ^^). So lots of gold, pearls of course, and blue gems to keep a balance in the color scheme. In the end there was not enough place on her head, lol. I suppose she's really strong to carry all that stuff on her head

I'm really proud of the skin of the face, I tried some new techniques and I think I improved somehow while drawing this

By the way, these are the artists who inspired me: and so many more awesome artists from dA

I can't decide if this drawing is ridiculous, totally awesome or simply crappy. Especially the background. Please don't be too harsh in your comments, but be honest about the clouds o_O How do they look?

Time: no idea. I stopped counting when I reached 20 hours 3 weeks on and off.
