Description
By request, a wax cut tutorial- which strikes me as funny that it's my first tutorial, since I don't think myself super wonderful at waxforms. I'm better than it looks like in the images, though- my camera's not the best. Regardless, it gets the point across.Time: For the makeup, 10-15 minutes. Putting together the tutorial took considerably longer. XD
Medium: Wax + Makeup.

^_^ Thank you! I do sheets like this for all sorts of Halloween makeup/makeup tricks in October, usually for friends. This one was uploaded on request. It was a lot of fun!
You should try it- it'd be fun, albeit a bit of (fake) bloody fun.

Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I love doing waxworks in my makeup, although more than anything I'm currently addicted to liquid latex...
(Liquid latex peel-offs are FUN when it comes to say, fake rotting flesh...)

Ooh yes, liquid latex is a lot of fun, too. I especially like mixing it with lots of random things to make a nice textured burn.

Wow, amazing! I must try one day, but I suck at make-up... Does it work good even on the face?
Great tutorial, thanks so much for sharing

Thank you! (And you're very welcome!) Wax does work on the face (a little harder if you have especially oily skin), but you have to make sure not to put it in a place that's going to stretch it out a lot- I suggest using liquid latex for face wounds. And when you attach it to the face, I think people tend to get in closer to look at it than if it were on a limb/shoulder, etc. So I always spend a lot more time on face wounds.

I see... well, I'll actually need them for a photoshooting, so I think it'll be ok even if they won't be perfect ;D This is a lot useful, I think i'll use this tutorial really really many times
Bye ^^

I doubt it! Wax just takes a little getting used to. And if you have any specific problems, just drop me a line or take some 'interim pictures' and I can try and set you straight. I'm no expert, but I can usually diagnose a wax issue. XD

ah that's so clever! i've got pale skin too, well, two colours - white and red XDD lol. but i wanna give this a go for halloween or maybe one of my cosplays, it'd look so awesome! you did such a good job making it look so real. thanks muchly for the tutorial, this will help a lot!
oh, question, does it stay on, or does part of it flake? i'm just a little unsure about that bit because with my cosplays i move around quite a bit is all..?

sweetgreychaos In reply to Eamane-Nienna [2007-05-16 23:42:15 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I'm glad you like it- and I hope you get some use out of it. ^_^ It's easy to replicate with a little practice.
It stays on pretty well for a few hours if you have the cut in a location where it's not getting bent a lot. Back of the hand/flat of the cheek/forehead cuts tend to last the longest- somewhere like in the joint of a wrist or a neck slit bend the most, and are the most likely to distort. Another good thing about it, is that when wax starts to come up at the edges, there's a 'damage control' window wherein you can smooth it back down. I suggest carrying around a small stick of red paint (or a pat) and a little foundation- that way, you can touch up the edges every hour or so.
If you're sweating a lot, that can cause the wax to disengage, also. However, it more or less just peels off in larger pieces/comes disengaged from the skin. It doesn't ever dry out in a way that it will flake. ^_^ In fact, more often than not my pieces have stayed in tact well enough that when I scrape them off at the end of the night, I could put them on a flat piece of paper and 'keep' them, were I ever so inclined! *laugh*
