Backstory: On an early autumn morning unicorn mare Lullaby Moon was having her second child and was in labor. Her husband Greedy Fruit, an earth pony, was waiting outside for the arrival of his next son. Their other son Strawberry Song, who was one year old at that time, was at home where the staff took care of him. Hours later the green stallion was allowed in to greed the new family member. He was greeted by his exhausted wife and a grey earth pony foal. The baby cried for a while but got tired of all the whining. Lullaby had thought about it really long and decided to name their little son Califlowerflow. The hospital staff was not sure if she was joking or not. But nope. She was serious. The dwarf doctor felt sorry for the little one already.

Months later after they brought Cali home everyone knew that he was a bit ‘different’. From childhood on he was not like any other colt in his age. Instead of playing with the other boys the green haired earth pony hung around other girls and mares. Always talking about the newest trends and fashion. He got quite popular with them. Not like with the boys, who called him always a sissy or a weirdo. But that didn’t bother Califlowerflow. Their opinions never mattered to him. You could say Strawberry was a bit embarrassed when they were seen together. Which the unusual foal never noticed.

Like his older brother, he was home-schooled and was trying his best to get everything done. One day he got a personal tutor because he had trouble with history. Greedy introduced him to an orange unicorn named Letterink. He was a very handsome pony with silver coloured hair and reading glasses. Cali took a liking to him while he tried to follow the subject. They became good friends and talked with each other on his breaks. Cali got heartbroken as his teacher told him that he is getting married to a childhood friend of his. After that the grey pony got less and less productive on his homework. He admits he really liked his teacher but even if he was not taken the age difference was way too high. He finally realized that he was really not like most of the others. With the age of 12 Cali had his coming out.

After the secretly homosexual colt hit 13, he had to go with his father to his Pineapple Company ‘PineTrade’. The teenager had not really much fun while he was there. His earth pony father dragged him into meetings and contracts and needless to say all of it was stupid in his eyes. It all changed as he was visiting a films studio near the company building. In one area of the studio a few people were preparing TV advertising for his dads business. Everything was so flashy and new and the fashion lover couldn’t get enough of it. The father and son pair spent a lot of time in this advertising studio. Or rather his dad had some work stuff to do and the little colt sat next to the studio director, an old centaur man, and watched him navigate the actors and actresses to do the shots. The human/horse man asked if he wanted to try it out since they got everything done. He was happy that somebody would allow him to go in front of the camera. Some actors explained how everything works in this place and the teenager was even offered to make some self-made smoothies. After he got some instructions how to use a blender there was no stopping him. His first smoothie was a veggie drink with cauliflowers mixed in. Everybody loved it. Even the employees who actually liked meat. That was the day he got his cutie mark and the silly boy didn’t even noticed it at first.

His father was in shock as his son broke him the news about his coming out years later. The unicorn mother was surprised but was ok with it. Strawberry Song had finally enough and told him how disappointed he was in him. His sisters were only 2 year old little fillies and Golden Paradise, who was 9 years at that moment, was confused of the words. Moneywind, back then 13 years old, told him to explain later. Like in his early childhood he didn’t care for others opinions. He is what he is and nobody could change that.

Some years later he visited some clothing stores and was fascinated by the look of them. In one he got mistaken by a female costumer who thought he would work there. Not telling her that she was wrong he played along. The female human asked if these Jeans trousers are blue or black. Whit his sharp eye the young stallion told her that it was black. The woman seemed disappointed and put the clothing back to the staple. Cali was not sure but he kind of felt bad for her. The he had an idea. The earth pony brought her to some other trousers with the colour she was looking for. The lady thanked him and went to the cash register. After that more people asked for his help. Some needed advice to some shirts and others about saddle bags. Califlowerflow never felt so happy and appreciated till that moment. After the little group of shoppers got their ways so did Cali. The grey pony had no idea that he would be so good in this topic. Later that day he bought a sketch book and some coloured pencils and some erasers. From that day on forward his new hobby was designing and creating bodies and cloths. That will never see the day of light, of course. Therefor he was way too insecure.

After he turned 27 he was looking for a job and he had no idea what he wanted to be. His father asked if he would like to work on TV promoting his business. The young stallion had no other option and agreed doing it. He worked a lot with his sister Sunshinebeam, which was the cover mare on their magazines. They had a lot of fun working together, even if both them work most of the time in different studios. One day the whole family was waiting for Shiny Twinkle to come home and were sitting in the living room. Soon his little baby sister came in and brought back a surprise. A nice looking light blue Brezzie/Pegasus hybrid with brown mane and tail stood next to her. He knew who he was. His face showed up in mostly every magazine and news. His name was Freewind and was the adopted family member of the royal Ghost family. After they bowed to the ghost prince they started talking about a major mission. Cali and his family were offered to participate in this program. They happily agreed and they were inaugurated into it. They had to go per portal to other worlds and investigate them. Sometimes they had to bring things like crystals or pictures with them for the royal crystal reader. Who know what awaits them.
