Ich liebe.
Memories... everybody has their own, events, people, things past away.
I sometimes regret I forget.
In one book I read that photographs steal our memories, because after a long time we will remember only those things we captured. I am afraid that might be true.

Contrary to the first couple comments, I think that the piece works well. The title 'memories of things you've never known' does not seem to me to imply that I should expect a linear or narrative series, or that I should be able to deduce much of the importance of the images. Completely the opposite the title seems to imply that I cannot understand, that the images that follow will be detached from their meaning, the context around the images, the memories of the images. In this regard I found the piece very interesting in how much beauty and meaning they retained, or rather they do not retain their original meaning, but somehow still do have meaning, the piece creates a new beauty for them. Some of this is the simple aesthetic of how they have been cropped. But there is somthing else, the degree to which the images are oblique helps create, at least for me, a sense of bittersweet memory. I get a sense of motion from the series, the water images, the tight closeups with off camera eyelines, that creates a sense of passing. I think the piece exists as something of an iceberg, where 9/10 of it is hidden, but it says a great deal for the intention and execution that without the benefit of their context the photos still ellicit emotion. Thank you for sharing this.

thank you for your detailed comment. The crops are around and about the context they have. I understand that this may be hard for others to see, understand or relate. I loved your iceberg image. Summs it up perfectly. However this piece only was a test at all. Moved it to scraps and will work on the good things.

The water one is lovely, and the deer is stunning. The rest don't seem to be as striking.

the title is simply awesome, it brings such a huge imaginery to my mind. but to be honest all my expectations were let down by the photos. they just don't seem to work with the title from my point of view.

the point of naming it "concept01" was to allow as much imagination as possible. I ask myself what you were expecting?

ok, still: what did you expected? you should knowm that those photos (or crops) have a very personal history to me. they deal with memories that faded away, memories that took place without me noticing them and so on. i'm just curious what you think
