Description Final assignment for Flash class last semester. This whole buttons deal was new to me, and too much fun to pass up. I was originally going to do a lot more with this, maybe eventually if I do end up having time I'll actually make it like I intended.

Cats are fun as heck to animate. Squash and stretch is my frieeennnd.

The animation is so gorgeous and fluid, Swifteh. <3 I love that you still use a traditional animation technique rather than those tweens which would make it look so mechanical. I would love to see more Flash stuff from you!

Argh I can't use tweens, it just feels weird and artificial to me! I'm glad I was trained from the ground up, imho it just looks so much better than the cheap-looking cheats that so many 'animators' like to use gratuitously. <3 It's good to know there are other people out there that appreciate 'oldschool'. Thanks Janice! I really should post more animated things. >_>

Oh pssh, it's a lot easier than it looks or at least that is what I have found since I got started on animation. I'd like to see what you come up with!
Dogs are slightly trickier than cats because they're not as fluid, and they do require a different approach. In other words you can cheat a lot more with cats. >D But I'm glad people like the animation! I should really upload more animated stuff, just to show I really am learning a thing or two in school.

Not really - as far as animation goes this is actually fairly crude, and I used a fair number of cheats/shortcuts. It took maybe three or four separate days working on it for about two to three hour stretches. I've definitely worked on more sophisticated projects, this just seems more 'finished' because it's all coloured up and the lines are all clean, when really I was able to have the time to do all that cleanup because there's not that much to the animation!

Flash. I'm afraid I go to school majoring in Traditional Animation, so whatever I learned I learned at my college. Flash tutorials are pretty easy to find around the web (~madelief has a good one I used, when I was figuring the program out), so getting to know the program isn't too hard to do. But for actual animation principles you'd be better off taking a class with an actual animator, not just someone that knows the program but not how to actually animate.
