if you've never had to deal with immigration laws, be thankful. the ones in the united states are clearly not formatted for freelance artists, which is unfortunate. I'm extremely blessed to have found in Bunko Studios a reliable, honorable sponsor, and my bosses treat me very well, but just knowing that there's such great potential for any employer I choose to take advantage of me if they wanted to makes me feel angry and helpless.feeling a little glum over new developments in my situation, so I doodled. I've always found it hilarious that both of us decided we wanted what might be a terribly impractical albeit fucking awesome relationship. don't be fooled, though -- he's mainly pissed off here because my butt is perfectly positioned less than a foot from him and he can't reach it.

Man. I'm very thankful that I haven't had to go through that process, and I'm so glad you have a reliable and honorable sponsor that isn't taking advantage of you. This is the kind of thing citizens need to hear, because since we don't have to wade through the red tape. Unless we make a special effort to learn or end up in an immigration office career we never know about the process. I wish you luck, and I for one am going to pay special attention to immigration legislation from now on, and do what little I can to help push for more safeguards to keep sponsored immigrants from being abused by their employers. I'm not surprised, sadly, but I didn't know.

Eh, it'll be complicated to deal with, but so far everything seems to have happened for a reason, so I continue to have faith, and just try to deal with everything as it comes without getting too freaked

Oh jeeze. I don't think I ever really stopped to think about how people manage to immigrate to the US. I suppose it does always pay to get a good sponsor, its a pain to find them here as is for anything, so to have one willing to help you to get an education in the US... that's pretty cool, but I can imagine it must had quite the intensive price tag :/

Nah, the education was done on a different visa and I didn't need a sponsor for that. The sponsor is somebody that will give me a job and help get the necessary papers to keep me around, which I am extremely fortunate to have found in Bunko Studios as they're wonderful people and have helped and supported me every step of the way.

I could never understand and will never understand the struggle you are going through and will never be able to comprehend the frustration. Regardless, I sympathize and wish you the best of luck and I hope that you can ward off greedy individuals. I wish there was something I could do, say, or someone I could influence in your favor - I wish it wasn't so difficult. *Hugs*

Yeah things go very smoothly for quite a while then boom more paperwork. I have medical paper work that is driving me crazy and they messed up something in the MRI so I have to go through a butt load more and redo my MRI. I hope they at least keep a good chunk of your paperwork on file an that they can find it again.

That is a really neat perspective on the situation, and I commend you for the perspective and difficult positions you have portrayed really well here! And I agree with Kaylaird. I live in California (Sacramento specifically. Some say the most culturally diverse city in the world), and sometimes it seems like legal citizens are a minority. Thanks you so much for going at it the right, albeit really difficult, way!

Being here legally takes a damn lot of money, especially in this economy, and if my sponsors were unscrupulous people they could screw me for even more. I honestly really feel for the people that are stuck across the border in crime and poverty with nowhere else to go. That might be another reason for them to rethink the laws. :\

No kidding. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be! And I know, illegal immigration is a problem, but as of right now, many people don't have the luxury of coming here legally. The whole immigration deal is just a problem these days. But then again, our whole government has been going downhill. :/

Yeah, sorry if I kinda went off on you back there, I just have a very hard time agreeing that something is the 'right' way if it allows foreign workers outside a certain type of work (namely the corporate world) to get screwed over so easily. Just because it's legal doesn't always make it right.

I know it's a tough situation, and I may never fully understand what immigrants go through, but I can thank you so very much for being here legally. I live in Texas where illegal immigrants make up nearly half the population in my home town, and every time I get dirty looks or asked to keep things under the table, I'm more and more thankful for respectful people who do thing right.

Nah, you didn't, and I'm sorry if I went off on you - it's nothing against you either. A bit of a kneejerk reaction; I just have a very hard time swallowing the idea that a system that allows such easy abuse of itself, and foreign workers to be taken advantage of, is the 'right way'. Also I feel for the people that have no real choice in this matter, and who don't have the luxuries and resources to draw on - a family that's well off enough to support me, a BFA degree, good references - that I do, and I don't necessarily think that all of them are trying to be disrespectful by doing things illegally.
