(ran out of lettering space for 'and', so used 'to' - Japanese 'and', for the uninformed - instead. haha.)Whee, the infamous Hitachin brothers xD They're too hilarious.
I think it was the memory of the Basenji episode of Breed All About It that influenced me on this one.. the woman featured on the show had a pair of Basenjis, and described them as being quite the cheeky mischief-makers. Basenjis are independent, intelligent, active dogs with minds of their own, and I figured they'd be perfect for the twins...by they way, if any of you Ouran fans actually caught that one episode of Pokemon with the talking Pokemon, was I alone in exclaiming 'HITACHINS!" the minute the talking-in-unison Kecleon pair came along? o.O (answer: probably. xD)

I love you. These are GREAT! It's about the only time I like dogs. I'm just more of a cat person. Oo! That would be great! If you drew them as cats! That'd be kinda funny, cause you could go with the snooty cat idea for some of them.
Imagine; Hikaru and Kaoru: two ginger tabbies looking coyly over their shoulders at you.

You could draw that. I only drew them as dogs because the manga author compared Honey and Mori to a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky, and after some thought I realised I could come up with the perfect breeds to fit all the Hosts -- it wasn't just so I could see them as dogs, I truly got inspired. 
Basenji are an unusual breed and have actually been described as more catlike than doglike, so there you go.

You're a very good artist though. I've looked in your gallery, and you''re really good. I really liked that picture with the two dogs in the forest, with the silky white one, and the big, friendly mix with the brown face. So sweet!

Haha don't worry about that, these pictures are still getting a fair amount of attention because they're fanart and I understand. I'm not sure what you meant exactly about dogs being easier to generalise, but it's true that different dog breeds have specific personality types because of the function they were bred for, and I was somehow able to connect all the hosts with a breed of dog that fit so perfectly to me I had to draw them.

OMG, Hikaru and Kaoru would definately be basenjies if they were dogs. I own a basenji and she can be very mischievious at times. LOL, now I won't be able to look at my dog with out thinking of the Hitachin brothers. (which is fine with me ^_^)

I'm so glad you could recognise them as basenjis so easily! I love picking up on those 'little subtleties' that distinguish different breeds from each other and make them special - to me that's the beauty of dog drawing and the fun of it too! and it always means the most when fanciers and owners tell me that I've captured a breed, or words to that effect. so thank you
