*blackwolfmagic is awesome and gave me not one but two pieces of giftarts over summer break. plus she's always been really sweet and gives me nice comments, so she gets fanarts. yay! (:
It was hard to choose a character to draw since she has so many, but Scarlet won out in the end. she was so much fun to draw and colour, I love Danes!

I can't believe you did this for me! This is so wonderful. Hardly anyone, besides 2 people, has drawn me a picture since I've been on here D: You're the only one to draw Scarlet as well!
I'm so glad to see that people like her. I was afraid no one would like the idea of a Great Dane fursona.... so I was a little worried. This cheered me up so much, just to see a picture for me and a few nice comments about her spots and looks.
You did such a wonderful job on her! Scarlet is a little neglected... but I still love her dearly, and I should draw her more. You got every little detail right, and it's lovely! You draw her better then I do! *tee hee giggle snort*
And thanks for the nice comments as well. I always like commenting on your art, since it's always a joy to look at!

Scarlet has such an awesome design and I absolutely loved drawing and colouring her. and pffft why wouldn't anyone like a Great Dane fursona? the world is overrun with wolf and fox and horse and big cat fursonas, and though I like and respect and admire manymany people with fursonas of those species, I'm always so happy to see something different. especially if said character happens to be a domestic dog. because domestic dog fursonas rock, of course. ;3 *cough*

On a slightly different topic, my neighbor has a great dane, and I'm always so amazed by how tall he is. I'm so used to leaning over to pet dogs because I'm really tall, but his head reaches above my waist.

Yeah. ^^ My neighbor's great dane is a great big couch potato. No hunting for him! They also own a billion dachshunds (more like six), and he looks so silly running around the yard with those tiny dogs. Haha.

hounds are couch potatoes in general, except when they're called upon to do what they're bred to do - hunt! xD

the secret to shading metallic thingses is contrast. when the shadows are really deep the white highlights stand out more, so it looks all shiny! it was pencil drawing kettles and various metal things for still life that taught me that trick. :3 and you can even have the white highlight cover a bit of the outline for extra shiny effect!

greyhound/mastiff crosses are exactly how they came about, if I'm not wrong. :3 and that would be awesome, just the contrast between a Dane and an IG. I would like... appear in your neighbourhood just to see you guys walk them. xD

well when we graduate we plan to move out to a farm at Council Bluffs Iowa. They have a greyhound track there so I'll be doing some volunteer work and maybe even start my own ex-racer sanctuary. Phil said it would be fine (he's not really a huge animal freak like me) so that made my day!
