*FireflyStudios and I have a new RP, City of Lights! Set in New York City, it's an epic ongoing battle between light and dark forces. We need more members right now, so I'm shamelessly doing my bit of advertising here. This is my cat character, Aedan, Senior of the Cats of Light, projecting his soul-spirit (the design of which I will probably be refining and changing), the form in which he enters the spirit world. I'm really pleased with how he came out, I'd been wanting to do real-media and I like drawing Aedan. I'll have to draw some of my other characters eventually too, yayfun.

When I first saw the thumbnail of this in my watch list, I thought "Aww, look at the little kitty thinking he's a big tiger..." (but not in baby voice, lol) and now that I see it's not that... well, I feel sort of silly. But, it is a great piece. I love the way the pencils show up on recycled paper. And the blue just makes the fire seem that much more vibrant. Nice job

Interesting! What do you mean by 'didn't disappear into each other'? I'm just curious to see what you liked about it, because this was just an experiment and I'll be trying out various ways of drawing this character and his soul-spirit.

I mean- they have similar colors but not so similar that you cant tell flame from fur. ^^

The blue oval does well in bringing out the strength of the warm colors in the center. Very cool image overall, with some hint of cuteness with Aedan roaring there.
The concept sounds pretty interesting, though I don't have much experience with rps, nor do I have the time. But if I did, I think I'd be a rat. Darkness doesn't have to be interpreted as a bad thing all the time, I mean too much light can be just as blinding. I assume that the rats make up for their smaller size through cunning, and teamwork. But then the spirit world must be a whole other ball game.

I really like the way you put that, and it's so true. The story and concepts that we're dealing with on this RP are a lot more complex than stereotypical good vs. evil and the rats are all interesting characters in their own right. I'll have to draw some more art of this plot as it progresses, interesting things will happen and I'd like people to see that it's something really different and interesting - at least in my own opinion.

the colors are... seriously beautiful. they stand out so well, so bright; almost as if the flames were real.

Thanks so much BLAU. <3 I actually coloured the flames with the yellow on the tips and the red on the inside -- which for physical fire is actually not correct, the brightest lightest part should be at the heart of the flame, on the inside. But it's soulfire and the colours looked better flipped, since as a tiger his red bits are outermost and the brighter yellow parts on the inside.

hahah! Well, that's not really the same thing in this case. Aedan has a mighty heart and soul, and so his 'soul spirit', the visible representation of his soul, is a huge rawry tiger.
