Here goes nothing.
-draws in breath-
It's taken me so long to comment on this because I feel so strongly. What I said to you in the e-mail is true, tenfold. The minute you uploaded this I was just an ocean, or waterfall, or something similar.
I've never drawn my babies before, and I've never asked anyone to draw them. So seeing them here, done so wonderfully, and perfectly, and true to their natures is just...powerful. Hits me right in the guts. I miss them so much, But seeing this makes me remember how much they loved me, how much I loved them, and how much joy they brought to me from childhood to adulthood. I could never, and will never, ask for better companions, and this is just like looking at a memory of them.
I could never, ever thank you enough swifts. Never.

I understand. sometimes words, as much as I love them, just feel inadequate.
I'm just happy that I was able to create something that resonates so strongly with you. From what you told me about these two I knew they were really special to you, and I wanted so much to get this picture right. I'm glad that in your eyes I succeeded because in the end that's what matters.!

Awww these two are really sweet. I love the muzzle shapes they have, how their cheeks are sort of flabby. So cute

Aw, nice job.
What breed(s) are they?
Paige looks like a pointer and Carpet looks like a mix of some sort.

they're actually litter sisters, both mutts of some sort. you'll have to ask Winzer.

You're welcome.
I'll be sure to ask.
Do you have your prices posted for pet portraits?
I think I saw it in one of your jounrnal entries but it's been a while since I checked.

they're all in my commissions journal which is linked to on my front page in my artist info.
generally though for a digital one, $20 (plus $10 for each additional animal). for a traditional one, depends on what media you want etc. I could give you a quote if you knew what you wanted.

I love how dogs seem to have these whole varieties of expressions, the one on the left looks so innocent and (it might be just me but) the one on the right looks like it's plotting something. Also that looks like a painful angle to have drawn its face from XD
But yes, nice picture I really like the colouring and shading on the dogs.

yes! dogs have great expressions. I meant her to be smiling, not plotting. I loved Carpet's smile so much I had to incorporate it: [link] though I never like to copy directly from a photo, and sometimes dogs crinkle their eyes when they smile (much like people) so I tried to have her doing that as well. fail, I guess. painful how? o.o
glad you like, thanks!! I'll probably never colour and shade this way again, it got much too maddening. xD

Haha oops, I think that was my interpretation, then!
Aaaah, I think I'm looking at that more from my own opinion, because for slightly twisted angles like that unless you're very very familiar with the subject material I would tend to draw it from a weird angle and... yes. awkward. I love referencing, but yes, I see what you mean about not copying directly. It's nice to add your own original twist to a piece.
And that is a nice photo
Haha aww, it looks nice though XD But your mental health is more important XD

haha it's cool! everyone is going to see what I draw in different ways no matter how I intended it. it's just an incentive to practice more at expressing what I want to better.
yeah, for me, references are a tool for understanding something's structure, to the point where you can draw it from any angle!
indeed. xD maybe I'll post my old art projects sometime.

True, I suppose : D People will always have so many personal factors that affect their interpretations.
Ah yes, I was on this spree of warding horse skulls once (... yes) and I was reffing a lot at home and then later, when I went out, I realized I could draw them pretty decently from most angles for the first day or two.
Aaah do so : D
