Thought it was about time I unveiled her to dA. My anthro cat pirate character, Lallang. :3 She's a Singapura, obviously. At least, one of the ancestors of the breed. She grew up in a boating tribe on the island before leaving for reasons that I still need to research on and thus flesh out. (If you can tell me exactly where she is in this picture, you get cookies.) Her clothes and dagger were all stolen.I'm attempting to do more pictures with ACTUAL BACKGROUNDS. *gasp* If anybody has any tips and advice about how to improve my backgrounds I would be glad to hear them, I really need help with this.
Lallang is part of a crew with *FireflyStudios 's characters. Currently we are holding a contest for people to design more crewmembers, so if cats and/or history interest you at all then do check it out!

Hmmm bg tips
You made the water all one colour is the first thing I noticed, and what could really help is making it look darker closer to the 'camera' and lighter as it gets farther away, which gives it a better sense of depth. Also, your rocks are really great, but they could use a bit more of highlights and stuff to make them look less flat. If you made them look craggier, or made of 'chunks' that might help. It's really good though and the cat character rocks

Augh, I actually made it darker towards the horizon. *fails* And yes rocks drive me absolutely batty. I think the reason I don't really enjoy intensive background work is I hate detailing things! xD Ah wells, practice makes perfect. Thanks for all the help!

Hoho, very nice work on this picture though. For a person not used to them, you did incredible with that background. The flow of the water, the details on the rocks, and the distant hills all make the picture worthy of staring at. But best of all is Lallang herself, I think. The feline gleam in her eyes really just draws me in... I hope she uses that blade for cutting bread, not people! :U
As for critique, I'm with *Steorra-Moonstar on the water. Some darker shades of blue would add a lot more depth to the waves in the foreground, but that is just about all I can see.
You did great on this one, Swift. You get a big thumbs up from me!

I'd love to write about her but because she is part of *FireflyStudios 's canon, I will probably be RPing her a lot more first to get a feel for her before I do my own spinoffs. I ought to post her backstory when I get that written out, though, if you want to read it at all!
I AM LAZY TOO. but because I am going into a career in art I need to be able to draw anything and everything, so I force myself to practice. xD

I have a character totally fleshed out in my head, but when I go to roleplay him/her, it's like I hit a wall or something. xD I have to make changes to their character for it to work. But it does help work out kinks and whatnot. owo; And I'd love to see her backstory. (x

I hope I can take some good art classes soon.. that aren't just like "draw a hand." or "copy this picture." *Chews arm*

Sentosa is lots of fun, though they're giving it a huge makeover because of the building casinos there and whatnot. x.x; Lot of nostalgia for me in that place, it was like this magical playground to me as a kid. <3

Usually we fly Singapore, so we do the whole Singapore stopover thing. I don't know our itinerary yet, so we may or may not do a stopover depending.
Speaking of which, do you even watch me? Lol
But seriously, that makes me excited because my mom likes to do the same exact thing every time we go to Singapore (take those little tourist tour boats around the bay)
