Okay, sounds like a freaking holiday resort ad tagline. But here's a special present for one of the best dA friends ever :3
*ox-of-ice was one of the first people to actually welcome me to dA back in '03 and talk to me, and is who I consider my first real dA friend. Throughout these two years we've remained in touch and I've been lucky enough to see her find her style and subject of choice, and watch her art develop into mindblowingly wonderful work
And even though now her talent is being recognised and she is famous and successful and earning mucho respect she's still my wacky crazy fun sweet buddy who BOUGHT ME A SUBSCRIPTION. So. Here's my thank you, Oxeh. for everything. :3
Her horsie characters were so awesome I had to draw them all. Ecume I've wanted to draw forever, Caline is just gorgeous, and Pagan is so friggishly kickass and nobody is drawing him D: so I thought he deserved some love too. And since I cannot draw wondrously detailed realistic amazing equids like teh Ox, I decided to draw them in my newly revamped toon horse style (I was hearing too many comments that went "OMGSPIRITSTYLE ;O;!!!!11!!1!" ...-_-;; ). Enjoy.. I really enjoyed painting these.

My favorite of these would have to be he horse is the water. The postion of the head and the motion you captured is just perfect. It looks like it's in ectasy. Exellent work!

I couldn't agree more, Ox is totally sweet. Shocking almost, in someone that talented, but I glee at their humor and how nice they are. =]
And I just love these!! The sheer JOY on Ecume's face -- that's fabulous. I always think that water mammals should be happy. It's like flying without the fear of falling.
And Caline looks so warm and happy and soothing -- sitting in a patch of sunlight and just soaking up the warmth, that's lovely.
And you're right, Pagan's just frackin' sweet. <3 <3

The water effect is gorgeous. The sun set/rise is amazing with how you blended the colors and such. Though my favorite part is the night. Must fav!

I have NEVER seen Ecume in daylight, honestly xD But he looks so pretty... I love the woosh and the dolphins!! Caline is so pretty, just sitting and basking in the warm sun... at the ultimate peace ^^
And Pagan... wow O_O I love his horns and the way you coloured him... I've only seen him in Ox's gallery, but never in someone else's xD I feel kinda sorry for him, he's kinda like... the little (*cough*), unknown equine compared to Ecume and Caline xD
The backgrounds are so good, but I especially like Ecume's little water droplets!! They're so cute xD *wants to hug them* 
The clouds on ALL of them look fab... especially on Pagan's because I can't do clouds at night because they seem invisible unless I make them BLINDING WHITE.
Yeah, anyway xD Swift this is fabulous... and ignore those Spirit comments because anyone who draws a horse with lineart gets 'OMGSPIRIT!!1one1!eleven' comments. xD
OH and they're manes look awesome too! But there aren't any visible hooves in any of the pictures xDD I suck at those. They look like potatoes stuck on the ends of legs.

Haha! I blame Ox for the clouds. She always draws these smexy clouds in her backgrounds and they somehow managed to incorporate themselves into my pics too. Seriously.. my clouds have never looked better o.O Ecume and Caline.. I don't blame people for wanting to draw them. They are awesome and beautiful. But yeah, Pagan don't get enough love and it makes teh Swift sad. You should give drawing him a try! I bet he'd look -awesome- in your style
LOL! I suck at hooves as well xDD But I didn't not-draw them on purpose! I wanted to do fullbody shots, but then thought it'd be cooler if I made them sort of cell-style, like a movie scene (on Pagan and Ecume, at least).

That looks lovely; contrasting scenes that match perfectly with Ox's contrasting characters. I'd love to be on the recieving end of one of your equine pictures. These have a rough, but pleasent style to them.
And pfft to the Spirit style, in my opinion. I think it's fine if you can do it well, and the bods at dreamworks have the anatomy down to a key, but, in my opinion, it seems unoriginal, and overdoing it lacks the personality of the artist that you've shown here

I agree with you.. I definitely think the people who can pull it off are amazing in their own right, but to find your own style you need to go back to the real thing. Oftentimes people who get so used to drawing the Disney/Dreamworks style anatomy find it a hard habit to break away from - I definitely had that problem even though I never really tried with that style. It's great to hear that you think I do have my own style because it means I've successfully broken away. Thank you again.

Thanks for the comment Alu! I feel like I need to do these great characters justice because they're all so awesome design-wise.. and to draw too :3 I seriously had to narrow down the poses/situations I wanted to draw them in, there were so many ideas I came up with. And Pagan is just wtfCOOL.

...Nggggggggggggggfkjg omfg. Swift I swear I've got tears in my eyes AUGH. 
I have to go through each picture and squeal incessantly AAAH. Swift this must have taken you ages, each of these is a work of art in its own right!
Ecume is done so wonderfully at the top! This is gorgeous, I've never drawn him in daylight because I didn't know *how*, haha, I thought his colouration wouldn't work, but you succeded! *hugsss* Omgosh, I love the movement here. Swooosh and DOLPHINS. Aaeeeeee. And I love how you can just faintly see the outline of his body under the water.
Caline is so PERFECT. Just... so serene and tranquil and beautiful, and you even remembered her pendant! And her dorsal stripe! Omgoshsshshh. I LOVE how her mane is just cascading downwards into all those curls and her expression. sldkjfldksjflsd
And PAGAN OMGOSH this is the first picture I've ever recieved of him by someone else. AUGH. Absolutely wonderfully done, he looks spectacular, you got the horns down exactly! At that angle! Aldskjf;slkdfjs. I adore the moonglow you put around his mane, and his mane itself, the mass of curlyness AND HIS FETLOCKS AAH. <3333 lskdjflksd
And ALL of these are painterly which you know I love! Omg. *melting* YOU. ROCK. GAH <333333!!!

You know I love drawing horsies lying tranquilly in grassy fields just chillaxin'. Caline is so pretty and she just gives off that relaxed, serene vibe whenever you draw her. She's like... an elf-horse or something o.O And yeah, I'm pretty anal about getting character details right.. I went to check your refs section
Pagan is kickasscool. I love him and I want to see more of him :B I like his marbleblade horns. All the Friesians I looked up for reference seemed to have wavy curlish manes so I incorporated that.. and I wanted to draw his floofy feetses :3 I was trying to get all their manes different textures xD
Anyway, I'm glad you like. you deserve more giftarts. And congrats on the DD, you deserved that too :3

Woah! Awesome! Love the block-character idea and the super-cool sketchy-cartoony-horses! Ecume came out gorgeous, by the way. His markings look so natural and blend very well. The water droplets look great too. Why should I be surprised at all???
