Same goes for "squick" pairings. If someone thinks that two characters have enough development to be put into a relationship, let them do it. Who cares if they're not "pretty" or whatever the hell the problem is.

I have to agree with you, everyone is always so annoyed that your a crap writer if you write fan fictions. It is meant to be for fun and about you enjoying writing it and such other things, picking up fans along the way is abit extra. But it is for fun and if you enjoy it then one should go for it, but it is stupid if people mock you for it. Way to stick it to them! XD

I hate it when people go "Fanfiction isn't real writing!" It annoys me to no end.
So if it isn't real writing, then I guess my hard work on my fanfictions should all be ignored because it isn't real writing. No matter how likable the unloved characters become or how the story in the fanfiction is better then the fandom, it's not real writing because you didn't make half the characters.
I write fanfiction because it is FUN! It's also nice to take minor characters and actually give them character development, or to make shallow characters less shallow. I partically write fanfiction for those who like my writing but I also write for myself. Plus, it's a great way to appreciate writing all together for those who don't like to read books.
